It's progress for WP certainly. But for Nokia specifically it makes for pretty dire reading.

These numbers obviously include Symbian sales too.

Nokia in the Christmas quarter with Windows Phone 8 just launched improved sales on the previous quarter (I won't even go into the sales in Q4 2011) by 300,000 units. Oh. Dear.

Symbian sales utterly collapsed (first time Lumia outsold Symbian) and Lumia sales being better than expected.
 
I've got a few hardcore iPhone and Android fanbois who took great pleasure in mocking WP8, so I just gave them my phone to have a play, every single one of them was pretty impressed so far.

ONE seriously hardcore Apple fanboi asked me how he could get the "spinny" tiles on his phone. Seriously, he wanted to know how to put the ME tile on his iPhone. My opinion of his technical ability was seriously reduced.

It's designed for subscriptions, they don't wont people just buying the odd book. They make. More money this way.

Now that sounds way more appealing. Might give it a go at that price.
 
Loving this phone its fast and smooth and when i mean smooth its smooth , no matter you always got stutters on Android no matter which i have been on and i had a lot of them.

Love the camera the low light shots really are great, i take majority in low light and the video recording stands up well as well giving me far better recordings in low light.

Most will moan about apps but it has all that i uses on android so am happy enough with that , so far so good.
 
So my phone has returned from repair after being sent away last Fri.
Was Ok last night, but today it has locked up completely again and I have to send it away again :mad:
I requested a replacement, but apparently only the support repair engineer can authorise that.
So Im sending them all the supporting documentation i can so that I can hopefully get a replacement.

For those that were wondering if you get the updated firmware once sent back for repair - you dont..

The solution is to use the task switcher to go back to IE rather than tapping the icon on the start page (which starts a fresh instance of IE, but with your previous last used page loaded).

Oh dear, I got all this to look forward to.
Also I got my unlock pin yesterday and less than 24hrs later the accelerometer and gyro sensors decide to pack in.
If Nokia repair decide to issue a replacement 920 would that mean I will have a locked handset again? Anyone know?
This is the first flagship phone I have purchased that has gotten a problem within the first 2 months of ownership.
Shame that they don't flash it to the latest firmware.

You can jailbreak and install dreamboard and run a reasonable fascimile of the home screen - this was actually a large factor in me going to windows phone, because I realised how much I preferred live tiles!

Also I just had to go and take my ipad into the Apple store to swap it out as the home button had gone. The genius who served me clocked my phone and asked to have a play with it - he was impressed. Given that I'd expected blind fanboyism from him, I was very surprised!
 
They will start flashing it to the latest firmware eventually. Have patience! It isn't a 5 minute job. Plus they are heavily restricted in what they can do by MSFT.

Ive been using one on a 2 week trial from nokia connect (google it) they send you a free lumia 920 for 2 weeks and a returns label to organise a pickup at the end of it, phone is unlocked, popped my 3 sim straight in and using it now :) real refreshing coming from an iPhone 4, so fluid and quick.

Not all that impressed with the camera so far but need to give it more or a real world test as opposed to random objects round the house.

How long did it take them to get back to you about the trial?

Edit to the original post above: it's not just when I save an image it's when the smart shoot photo is taken that the images are upside down.

Good morning all, can some kind person try their smart shoot for me. As above the problem continues when I take portrait photos. Even after uninstalling/reinstalling the smart shoot photos are upside-down. Can u confirm that yours is ok please.

When I take it in landscape it's fine but when I take it in portrait it saves it upside down. Portrait photos save the right way up using the normal camera.
 
Phone has completely frozen today, not amused. Tried to do a hard reset and now it's just stuck on the 'Nokia' screen, soft resets don't do anything apart from resetting the phone and returning to the Nokia screen. Any ideas?
 
You tried connecting it to a computer and leave it to reboot? It *might* work. Read on other topics and people with issue seem to get their phone back doing this.
 
No luck. Going to dl the EE firmware (not portico) from navifirm and try flashing it back on, looks like that's helped a few people. Since in flashing the exact same firmware and OS version onto the phone, that's not going to void my warranty is it? And how does nokia even know if your phones been flashed?
 
Yes i would have Nokia would no as the product codes wouldnt match. Is this a new handset? If id recommend the handset bit RMA'ed
