Well I've got a new Touch Cover, now I have the "mute" issue.
MS Chat say that its not a hardware issue and that there is a fix in the pipeline..
Awesome sauce..
So many issues in the first few months of ownership, however I do really like the device and will be getting a Pro..
It wasn't for Surface so it's unlikely it will be for Surface Pro.
It's going to be $899 for the 64GB and $999 for the 128GB
Using the same rough conversions they used for the Surface we get: £750 and £850 ish
Hmm, can't say I've experienced the mute issue myself. The Surface RT does seem to have had more than the average share of audio issues. I have a couple of minor problems with Audible but it's hard to tell whether it's the app or not (I'm guessing they pulled it for a reason, perhaps it was buggy)
Had my Surface RT a couple if weeks now and it's been great. I'm looking to use it to stream music to my lounge speakers though, and am trying to decide between a DLNA hub or a Bluetooth speaker adapter. Has anyone got a suggestion for a DLNA device they know works with the Surface? I know an Xbox would do the job, but I've already got a PS3 so don't really need another console.
9% of the 'new Windows' market is running Windows RT, and 82% of that 9% is the Surface RT.
Both figures seem a bit high to me but hey it's just a sample. I don't think there is any doubt that the Surface is by far the most popular RT tablet though. And for good reason, too. The overwhelming majority of people who pop into this thread say they like it.
I'm a Windows 8 developer in my spare time, and put out an app recently that generates infographics from Facebook and Twitter, and also lets you do twitter analysis and the like.
The more I use it the more I like it. Just wish the volume was slightly stronger just for playing around watching youtube on the fly. All in all a top piece of kit.
Is skyfire the only way to watch streams on ipad still? The reduction in quality was shocking, love that this does it natively.
The build quality is stunning, I think the people app is actually pretty awesome with the integration and some other cool apps, hopefully it fleshes out although I'll probably never install many.
The more I use it the more I like it too. I feel my score is a bit harsh, although to be fair I did say that at the time.
In spirit/longer term test I think it's a solid 8/10 to be honest. One with 3G/4G, NFC and a higher resolution screen and some better guts would be fantastic.
They've done the hard bit in my opinion, they have something with a bit of 'xfactor'. It's greater than the sum of its parts. As Windows matures and the Surfaces get a bit more cutting edge I think it's going to do quite well.
But isn't the praise in the OS?, as opposed the Surface itself (Which bar having some excellent features, will always be marred with his specification)
The OS is solid, that's for sure.

The OS is both an advantage and disadvantage, on the one hand it's very versatile and Windows 8 has some very cool features but on the other hand we're dying for some big apps and for existing ones to become more useful. As a first attempt it's great but it has to compete against Android/iOS and all the rest which have had a long time to provide a good experience.
To the Surface itself, it's the got the best build quality of any tablet I've ever used so while it's a small point it's still worth mentioning. I'm quite glad I got a replacement Surface, my battery life has improved quite a bit but I can't figure out why.
