Yes, yes with restrictions, or just plain no?

I think as an object to look at a brown shoe is very slick and stylish, however whenever I try to pair them with any of my suits something just doesn't sit right with me and I leave the shoes on the stand.

What are your opinions, advice, or criticisms about brown shoes?

I completely agree, I got some brown shoes for work looked really nice. They just never go with anything.

I do use them occasionally when I go out with beige chinos, as they work better than black there but nothing really else.

Brown shoes ok with grey suits (please also wear a brown belt too if belt is worn, nothing worse than differing colour leathers here IMO) and on the odd occasion a blue/navy suit. Depends on the whole outfit.

Brown loafers can also go well with chinos, but brown shoes shouldn't IMO be worn with black suits. I usually wouldn't wear black shoes with blue trousers (jeans or suits) either, but some people seem to pull black shoes and blue suits off. I can't figure out why.

Navy blue suit or grey then yes, any other colour suit then no. Like the dude above says, match your belt as well.

Yes with the right clothes. I have some, as well as black shoes. I love shoes. shoes shoes shoes shoes shoes!

Now I sound like a girl. :(

I wore brown today at work instead of my usual black ones as they had better grip on the ice. With black trousers, every time I looked at them it annoyed me :/

At least I didn't fall over though :p

Brown shoes with smart work attire just looks horrendous IMO. Black shoes with suits, smart trousers, etc.

I've only ever thought brown shoes looked acceptable with jeans and the like, possibly chinos at a push depending on colour.

God this is so wrong in everyway!

Head over to http://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/ and start dressing properly!

The no brown in town rule is for the absolute fraction of elitist London snobs. Brown shoes are very trendy and can be very smart for work.

The only rule with them is no brown shoes with a black suit - now that does look bad.

Anything else is fine.

Will post proof.

You're entitled to your opinion, but no, brown shoes look horrible in a working environment. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing brown shoes in smart attire, especially with a suit, just screams 'I think i'm **** hot and dead trendy but in actual fact i'm annoyingly over confident and brash, with my head implanted firmly within my own rectum' :p

The point at which I elect to take fashion advice from reddit is the point at which I give up on life frankly :p

The day I take fashion advice from Reddit is the day I start sorting my pistols by barrel flavour.

Grey suits and brown shoes are for Italians, and nobody else.

brown sandals are ok (except in the snow)

No they are not.
