Of course, anything on ice will be crap (bar studded tyres etc). But inmushy snow etc they will rock (relative to road tyres at least!)

not exactly true.. ;) fat tyres need to go through a lot more snow to reach a solid surface.. thin 23-25mm tyres will just through it :)

We're meant to get a bit of sleet and snow overnight tonight so I'm gonna be taking the car to work tomorrow. Be nice to give my legs a rest after all the turbo work I've been doing and get them ready for the Sportive on Sunday, I'll probably do a gentle hour on the turbo Saturday.

I was hoping to get a good ride in on Sun and get my miles up. Not too likely with this weather. I guess I'll be stuck in 2nd or 3rd on the base miles challenge for a while...

I'm not commuting today or tomorrow so there's a chance for people to catch up. Planned a lot of miles this weekend, but the forecast says no. If that's the case it'll be lower mileage mountain biking or the turbo. Since I have a cadence\speed sensor on the rear wheel on the turbo that counts towards the base mile challenge though.

Cheaters the lot of you!

...I need a turbo trainer :(

Edit: This bike lark's going to be the death of me. I'm already pondering getting a fancy 'summer' bike and relegating my CX bike to winter/commuting duty. I only bought it in August...

Fixed :) It's a lot of bike for the money that's for sure but that heat tube is all sorts of fugly.

I'm pretty sure it's identical. De Rosa bought the Stealth mould - there was a thread on BR about it. Obviously the paint job is different, but I'm pretty sure that visually at least they are identical.

I accept the carbon layup etc may be different though.

Happy to be corrected if you know otherwise of course ;)

Hi all,
I've got a bit of a problem when I'm am cycling while I'm at university at Ayr.
After about 10-15 miles of cycling my chest and lungs start to really hurt and continues to hurt for a while after.
But when I'm at home on the Shropshire/Welsh border I can do 50/60 miles fine and chest/lungs don't start to hurt at all.
Could it be the sea air?
I've been at uni at Ayr for 1 year and 4 months now but only been cycling up here for 4 months. and only got till 6th June till I finish my HND. but would like to do more than 15 miles.

Thanks

It's supposed to snow for about 12 hours round us tomorrow. I can't see the Saturday morning group ride happening. I might head out myself and do as slow flat ride to get a few miles in, but it looks like it'll be chilly!

im tempted to buy the frame and fork and build up a new set of summer wheels but swayed by the canyons as a complete bike

I've explored a ridiculous amount of avenues on potential bikes & builds recently and they all lead back to Canyon in the end!

The downside is the GBP/EUR Rate has taken a dive from 1.24 last week to 1.19 today and the price on the Canyons has gone up between £40-60 on most of their bikes.

Meeh got a slow puncture on my bmx not sure what ill take tmrw.. ride to work should be fine but back might be a bit worse.. then again main roads in london SHOULD be OK.

I dont read magazines anymore.
I find it's a bit like browsing the internet, but with somebody else deciding what pages you go to.

Just got into work, no problems at all with the mountain bike which is nice, but I definitely think it's not slick tyre weather (got maybe an inch max of snow right now)...

Main issues were the wind, visibility (fogging up and water on the glasses, good combo :p), and of course the beemer half-spinning after turning into a junction in front of me, and then holding me up for the next km or so, damn slow cars :p
