Which retail store going be next to go ??

Not all surprised. There seems to be such an abundance of phone shops as it is. Up until a few weeks ago there were 3 Carephone Warehouse stores within about a 1 mile radius. Not to mention the o2, Orange, t-mobile and Vodafone.

My money is on Thorntons.....outside bet of Halfords, Staples maybe...

Halfords have revised their profit forecasts up £4m to £70m so they should be ok for some time

Although it pains me to say it my prediction would be Waterstone's unless they close all their non-profitable stores

I very much doubt that Staples will be gone any time soon. It is a massive, global company(Revenue of over 25 Billion in 2012) with a pre-tax profit of nearly a Billion dollars..

There have been some store closures and redundancies but I wouldn't see that as a seriously bad sign for the business as it shows that they are trying to make the business more streamlined rather than waiting 'til the final minute before doing anything(i.e Game).

Gio Goi clothing brand has apparently gone under too?

I used to like some of their designs when they first appeared, but then over time the chavs got onto it and shops like Bank got hold of it and it quickly descended into horrible tat.

I was thinking about this the other night, maybe Holland and Barrett?

I think somewhere like House of Fraser might start dialling back their presents by shutting a few stores.

Richer Sounds would be my bet.

I'm pretty sure they're doing well for themselves. They're cheaper than online retailers most of the time on the few brands they stock.

I think that's the key..... they've cut down their stock to only a few different manufacturers, presumably having special deals with them.

Most of their money probably comes from the ridiculous profit margin they'll have on their overpriced cables.

Mothercare has been on borrowed time for years and posted poor results this week. Thorntons looks to be on very fragile ground as well.

For UK maybe but then they are moving away from having their own stores (Mothercare and Early Learning Centre) to being in other stores such as boots. Already closing the worst stores so think they might have the right plan.
