Which retail store going be next to go ??

Gonna throw a curve ball here.... Watch it

Amazon! Yep they must be in trouble, all the sales they have ;)

On a serious note though clarks shoes, so over priced and hardly ever any customers. Went to buy my little nieces some school shoes there, £70 odd each for kids shoes! Went next door to next or another retailer and got 2 pairs for £40 of similar style

Get what you pay for i suppose.

So how does this thread work? We make random guesses at stores we perceive as expensive or don't frequent?

Thats right, yes. We also say ADAPT OR DIE lots too.

I nominate Meridien Modena, all the Ferraris in there are really expensive and they only sell a few a month.

Not sure really. People are spending their money wisely. My wife's a childminder and nearly all the kids turn up in Clarkes.. That said, I bought my youngest son a pair a few years ago and they didn't last as long as any cheaper pair so never again.

Purple shirts.. Not sure how they stay in business tbh. I only visit our local store if I need a cable or something desperately.. but I'd never buy anything of value there.. Too over priced, heavy overheads and the stores is always next to empty. Curries are surely supporting them.

I do remember seeing some news piece about Argos looking into getting rid of their catalogue and was in favour of moving completely online.

I know someone who works at Argos and this is the plan. I think they want to be a bit like Amazon (by lots of stuff) but with the advantage of having some sort of high street function where you can pick up your purchase. Not sure if thats viable or not as having a physical shop is going to add extra burden

Argos if they are smart could survive as they have the advantage over amazon of a physical presence for when you want/need it that day.
Tesco direct et al also do this with their collect from store which i have used several times and works well.

I think the problem is that in the current economic climate its all down to the price of goods and people will go with what ever is cheapest, online, high street or out of town.

Was passing through town centre today and there is one retailer I nearly forgot about that should definitely be mentioned in this thread. Wilkinson. They are only in bad areas. They had massive losses year on year for the past few years. They somehow ended up with Netto, which on its own was among Lidl-like minimarkets what Perodua or Proton is among car manufacturers. And the state of my local Wilkinson shop. Oh my....
