Far Cry 3 Thread

Is "most like it the least" an indirect way of saying "most people realised it's crap"?

As Katana said, it was clear the potential was there but they simply didn't use it properly. That said, they had another crack at it and produced FC3, so fundamentally there's no reason FC2 had to be as bad as it was.
 
just unlocked the 2nd island, id have to say its right up there with the best games ive played this year.

Dunno what all the complaints were with the crafting, the stuff you need for skins isnt hard to find, you only need to do it once, for syringes ive only ever bothered with the health ones which isnt a chore in the least.

For me the game has been so great mainly due to Vaas, i think hes a great character, i also enjoyed a lot of the stuff with Citra.
 
Biggest annoyance for me was not being able to run it all in DX11. Even with driver updates from NVIDIA :(

Good game though. Need to play some co-op...

I've just bought a new PC after finally upgrading from my old Core 2 Duo, ATi 4870X2 system(!).

I've gone all-out and bought SLI 670 ftw cards. FC3 is the game I've been looking forward to playing the most and was wondering if someone could tell me what settings to use in-game and in the Nvidia control panel to get the very best image quality out of the game. I'm playing at 1080p (I'll be getting a 1440p screen soon-ish). I've read a few things about turning off in-game AA and using nvidia's instead, using HBAO, SLI 32x CSAA etc. but I'm a bit of a noob (or at least very out of touch) and would be really grateful if someone could clear things up for me. How can I make FC3 look it's best?

I was going to say "It's a shame the NVIDIA GeForce Experience app doesn't support FC3 yet."

Apparently it does now
 
The game works out your "optimal" settings for you but if you're not happy with that then the best way is to play with the settings yourself, to see what works best for you. AA, shadows & textures normally take the biggest hit on performance I'd say

Just put everything on full and enjoy just disable post fx.
 
you need to craft weapon holsters to be able to carry more, couple of skins unlocks a new slot each time.

Not hard to do your map shows the areas different types of animals can be found just kill a couple, skin em and craft the bag/holster etc

The respawning was probably the only thing but if they didnt the game would be boring (no one to shoot). The guns were broken cos the Africans were poor :)

I tried FC3 but couldnt get into it. Ill try again once Ive updated my system.
 
Bit of a dumb n00b question here but....is it possible to join the pirates?

They are so much more fun than the stupid wussy faction. I tried to do this by wasting every faction group I came across but it didnt work. Their last words to me are "T...tr...traitor!" before they get drilled :D

I was hoping the pirate AI would detect I was wasting their enemy and offer a position in their unit :p
