Checked in Bios and both settings you suggested are already on

In computer management coming up as 350mb system reserved 2047.66gb RAW and 746.52 Unallocated it's this unallocated that I don't seem to be able to do anything with

I am new to uefi boards. Will the drive need to be converted to gpt instead of mbr ?

I only have a 500gig hhd and a 1 TB hhd I have installed W7 with uefi and converted my storage drive to gpt.

Hope this helps.

Ok still not playing ball

I have the latest bios Version F18
Enable the CSM in BIOS, and boot the disc as UFI this was already enabled in bios
"In computer management right click and delete the 2047.66gb volume and it will merge with the remaining 746.52gb"

did this but didn't merge just got 2 unallocated partitions

I must be missing somthing?

The 746.52gb unallocated I cant do anything with

Am i right in thinking that on a GPT you can't install windows?

Not quite right, you can. I have a Asus UEFI board and have converted both of my working drives to GPT. One is my OS,Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the other is my storage drive.

Both drives are SATA II 3 gb\s.

I have two more drives which have not been converted to GPT and these happily work along side the converted ones.

One thing I have not been able to test is if an older IDE drive can be converted to GPT but I can't use these any more, none of my boards have IDE ports, only SATA.
