*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Is it worth it to buy the Nexus 7 now? It's been around for a while and I'm worried something better will be around the corner soon.

Of course. It's always the old "if you wait forever you'll never buy anything" quandary.

Worst case - You buy one, use it for a few months, then sell it on to facilitate the purchase of new tech :)

Buy buy buy :D

I picked up one today . I had the 16GB version last year but sold it in November when I heard the 32GB was coming out. Ive missed not having this tablet but after getting the Nexus 4 at Christmas the N7 definitely seems a tad sluggish.

I was playing around with a N7 yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised to tbh, very nice screen, the IPS display looks very close to the surface which I liked, one thing I noticed straightaway though was there seemed to some kind of input lag, particularly with scrolling.

Edit - being bored I looked into this more and it appears to be 'scrolling inertia' issue since android ICS, which makes sense as when I upgraded my phone to ICS I noticed it straight away, it was very smooth (google's intention no doubt) but the inertia felt all wrong, it's like your pushing/pulling against a magnet all the time, and the physics of the inertia did not seem to be consistent either, so I downgraded to Ginger Bread where the scrolling wasn't as smooth but it's inertia and tracking was a lot better, almost in real time and felt a lot more natural.

Imo this is akin to input lag on some pc monitors and televisions, the vast majority of people probably won't notice it or even care, personally though I find it little bit debilitating.

What's the best way of connecting external media to the N7? Just a micro USB to USB cable and a USB stick? Is that good enough? (i.e. if I'm on a flight, or have extra media I need to look at and don't want to cram the internal memory).

Damn, 170 is cheap.

I got the 32GB 3G one today. Not paid anything for it yet, but it works out 40 a month for 6 months, so 240 in total.

Now I need a good internet SIM and that poetic slimline case.

A certain buyer site are selling the 32GB model via Ebay for £184.99 til tomorrow 8am. I have been wanting to get a 32GB but didn't want to pay £199 for it. Now just wait for it to arrive, hope it's virtually fault free and then sell my 16GB! (which I did pay £199 for in July from HMV) :D

I have ordered a bluetooth keyboard supposedly made for the nexus 7, £12.99 from China. Will report back in a few weeks time when I get it!

Well my Brodit Active car mount arrived today. Starting a job next week where I am going to be driving a lot and finding out my Nexus 7 has full GPS came at just the right time. It now has a really useful purpose in my car.

I also got the Poetic Hardback case, the IVSO USB OTG cable and a USpeed USB 3.0 card reader. Sadly I couldn't get my Verbatim USB 3.0 hard drive to spin up properly so I am now in the market for an external hdd that is confirmed as working. I saw that YouTube vid for the Toshiba one but is it confirmed by more than one person that it works? Any other recommendations of specific models gratefully received.

This Nexus 7 is awesome! :)

Had a chance to mess around on mine now. I have heard of the famous screen lift issue on the left hand side, mine seems absolutely fine. I have been inspecting it quite a bit but were there any other common faults people were finding?

Oh and I've joined this thread very late, N7 has been out almost 6 months now hasn't it? Please feel free to post pics of your 'must have' accessories! :)
