I am moving up a tyre size on my GTi-6 due to the frankly shocking availability of decent tyres in 195/55/15 as well as the price of them for what you get.
The size I will have is 205/45/16.
Any recommendations in this tyre size.
Ultimately I would like the best available, Which should be a realistic aim at around 115-120 per corner?
I'm also looking to fit bigger brakes for which the 16"s are necessary.

Thanks in advance.

O Rly,

Other than those or you basically have Vredsteins.
Not a massive plethora of choice is it.

I have tried the below:
PE2's = Great but no longer available
Uniroyal RS2's = Pretty good, very good in wet but again NLA
Bf goodrich G-Grip = Lol not so grippy.... If it wasnt for the above two i'd have thought i need an LSD or something
T1R's = I actually got rid of these very wuick as they were ****
Falken ze912= ok just average
All of the semi decent go-to tyres are slowly being discontinued too.
There is no premium tyre from Michelin any more in this size for example.

Besides like I said, I need 16"s for a multitude of reasons brakes being one of them.

If I was to stay in that tyre size I would get those though as you say to clarify.
I assume they will be Not-So-Great in rain though?

Mainly the additional 100hp to be honest, Plus its a 6kg weight saving per caliper/disc of un sprung weight :)
Plus because I can and they were cheap.

Well why didn't you say so before....

If you are running 270hp then surely you want a wider tyre than 205?
Well its more of a case of I will be running 270hp when I finish buying the rest of the bits i need.
At the moment i'm getting bigger wheels so I can get decent tyres and therefore brakes so that i have a good platform for more power afterwards.

I'd rather do it that way than power first and find out nothing can cope.

Basically:
I will need brakes if i'm wanting that much more power.
I need new tyres anyway and the choice apart from the tyre you posted is slim.
If i need new brakes then I need to move up a tyre size.

205's are apparently fine. I think its due to having relatively low torque and the linear power delivery with a centifugal charger, even those with 450hp are running 205 wide tryes

The availability of 195 55 15 is surely irrelevant if you are going to a 16 inch wheel ?

How wide are the 16s?

Yeah for sure.
It was mainly to voice that in someways the change is necessary regardless if I want any choice of decent tyre

The wheels are 16x7" I'm not convinced you can go wider than 205 in a 306 arch though :/

No, Way to much side wall.

Its basically 205/45/16
Or 195/40/16

Apparently the 195 are not a great idea as the ride is compromised a bit.

Those two sizes have massively different sidewall sizes. One is 92mm high the other 78mmm??

I have a gti-6 too and know what you mean. I have toyos on mine but after having some Bridgestone Potenzas fitted prior to these they are like driving on a bowl of jelly. Sadly the Potenzas are no longer made either :( They had the most awesome turn in stability which was great for the standard size gti-6 tyres.

I've got Bridgestone Potenza's all around and I think they're a good tyre. Not cheap though. They're about ready to swap though and I've heard Yokohama Parada Spec 2's are quality, so I think I'll give them a whirl.

Ah yes Paradas!
I've tried them too, Didnt think much of them in the wet and you seemed to really have to get them warm before they performed well, They arent bad, Just not great really.

Yeah I believe its because neither are dead on, The 195 width lower overall radius, the 45's increae it slightly.

EDIT:
Sorry I meant 195/45/16....
DOH!

Heres the indepth info (overall dia)
Original 15 inch tyres: 595.37 mm
195/45/16:581.66 mm
205/45/16:590.80 mm

Both overread, the 205's far less than the others. (0.777% versus 2.355%
