Are they worth the premium? I have a budget of around £150-200 for a 256gb drive.

Is there anything else worth looking at?

I will be changing from a OCZ Agility 2 90GB, I have a P8P67 Pro which I think has 2 SATA 3 ports but I've not used them before, Do they need thier own drivers?

Cheers

are they worth it? only just imo but how longs it gonna take for prices to drop on them?

the 4k read/write are over 300mb per sec!!!

just plug in the intel sata 3 portset to ahci in bios and install rst drivers once windows is installed, thats all you need

i seen a lot people say they not worth it but i like mine and im happy i got one
abused it for a month now and its been perfect, the software is good to

it was cheaper than the ocz at the time and the plextor i think

the 4k read/write speeds are awesome,youd see a good 150-200mb less on other ssd's

does it feel any quicker??

I love mine also, but no difference to any other current gen SSD if you ask me. I thought i may as well get the best at time of buying though.

Didn't really buy it for the read/write speeds, Needed something bigger and wanted it to be reliable too.

BF3 seems to load a tad quicker I think, Could be placebo :D

you got on the bandwagon, no one here unless benchmarking would see any difference in either a standard samsung and a pro version, anyone who say's any difference is a bench mark geek

i use the adata 256gb and also a samsung pro 256 in another pc, both are great drives, but for saying one cost almost £80 more than the other, apart from benchmarks both work the same, both very quick and are very happy with both, when i need more space which one of the 2 i would buy again, well the cheapest, as the speed between the 2 just isn't worth the extra.

now flame away and post 20 odd speed test links and bore everyone to death with benchmarks saying the extra £80 is well worth it as i need the extra 2/5% more speed it gives.

pretty graph btw, shame it makes no difference in most apps or games i use

will i get 1 fps quicker in rome2 when i comes out with a pro drive?
will windows load in 3 seconds instead of 4?

tbh meaningless, if it works use it, if it does almost the same as something else and is a lot cheaper buy it, unless your made of money and like to have bragging rights with your mates "remember the OCZ stick which comes with your sdd saying (my sdd is faster that yours)"

some people need to use the pc more, and bench mark less, sorry but it's sad

its not only speed its about the reliability and how well the controller maintains the drive, samsung have a pretty good track record so far,you cant say that about every ssd

Very true, I purchased my 840 Pro over the standard 840 as it uses the widely used MLC (multi-level cell) NAND rather than the unproven TLC (triple-level cell) NAND and the extra 2 year warranty

zak noones going to flame you, well im not :p
i agree with the benchmark thing but its still one the best ways to find out if there is a problem

and on the price, you must have got a special price on that adata for it to be 80pounds less, its listed just 20 less than what i paid for a pro

i think ssd's are worth paying a little extra on bcos its not something you change every year, in 3years time they might be in another computer or a laptop etc

About the same as what I got with mine. Not quite sure why the 4K write is so low though, but at least it isn't a problem with my drives.
