How much disposable do you have?

Not a lot at all.

At the moment after rent, food, petrol etc etc - I'm left with about £250 pm - if the kids need something I'm more or less left with nothing.

About 75% disposable.

But saving at least £200 a month & putting £60 a month into our work share incentive plan (buy 3 shares get 6 free) - very good return, shame it's limited to only matching on the first 3 as I'd be chucking £1000 a month in it if I could lol.

Could save more, but waste allot of presents/gifts for the girlfriend or family.

minus for me cant seem to get out of it :( lost me job due to health (was there fault) but meh they dont care 12 years busting a gut for a company and they just dont care.

I put every thing into that job

Went to solicitor and all was good they said I had a strong case.
My boss denied every thing as there was no record of it even though we discussed the job in question face to face and I said I cant do it due to my back.

It all so took place infront of a another work colleague but assumed he did not speak up for fear of his job.

So the case was closed.

Its really upset me and effected any future employment not only becuase of two slipped disks but all so trust in employers.

I put so much into that place and did EVERY thing even stuff that was not for me to do eg

Computer networking
3D design
and god knows what else.

Looking back I was really taken the **** out of they used me my wages was terrible and later found out I was on much lower then the rest even though I did the most work.

Every one there did one job be it

Machine shop
Head work
Stores

I did all departments

Crank grinding
Reboreing
Lineboreing
White metaling
Stores
Van driving
Head shop
Machine shop
Computer networking
3D designs
And more

But was payed way less I later found out so yeah real gutted really gutted :(

Enough to live but im clearing debt so it's not like i don't earn enough im just getting my self on an even keel, once i am clear ill have more than enough.

I'm actually making the most of my disposable income at the moment, due to buying a house later this year.
Social Life, Lest we forget.

My wife's salary covers all our expenses and plus a smidge more, so we use my salary as disposable and I've never been more thankful for this because after 6 years of work, I'm being made redundant in 6 weeks.

If I lived alone in our current house I would have maybe £200 properly disposable left (i.e not including food). At the moment all of SWMBO's salary is theoretically disposable income, though overpaying/ savings eat a large chunk into that. I keep in the region of £300 a month for myself

Knowing what other peoples income is will not help you out OP. You've just started a willy waving thread. Good luck getting your promotion though as by the sound of it, you need a bit more extra disposable income. I think getting the other half to move in will help you out financially...whether not not it will help your relationship is a whole different story. FWIW I'm left with ~55-60% after my mortgage, bills, food etc.

It'd be doable but I don't think you'd enjoy it. Get yourself a lodger until your girlfriend moves in and enjoy the extra income.

Just over £1200 a month free. And that's because I'm a cheapskate saving pennies where I can. But I guess it's most that I use a work phone, have a company car with insurance, fuel and maintenance paid for. Once I mortgage up, it goes down to under a grand. With kids probably just over 200 :(

A couple of hundred quid! Though every 3/4 months what ever I've saved is usually spent on something, a trip away or something of the sorts. I've managed to save a few grand working away over the last few months which i will use as a little nest egg. Though upon returning to work in the UK i'll re-engage in OP-Hermit. (Which consists of staying in, limiting social life, limiting drinking etc etc.) Looking for a few trips away this summer!
