The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Always a good idea; FSX is not a "game" its a piece of simulation software...peoples expectations of it can often be wrong.

Even at its most basic level it can be very involving and the learning curve for aviation novices is steep (I'm speaking from experience here) but the rewards are very worth it

It's not Tom Clany's Hawx with airliners :D

Thanks mate, I will let you know how I get on :D

Shahpor, on the NGX there is an option in the FMC to load up the panel state in cold and dark. You can change lots of settings in the FMC like weight, fuel loads as well as panel configuration etc. Worth a look if you hadn't spotted it already.

Thanks mate. Had a proper play with the FMC yesterday and did find all the options. Seems PMDG have thought of everything :)

Tried a startup from Cold and Dark with a route entered into the FMC and it took me over an hour to make it to pushback! :)

I forsee more practice.

Yeah you soon cut down that time with practice! If you use vRoute or similar planning tools you can export a .rte file which you can then load into the FMC co route section. Alternatively you can manually enter a route then save it for future use.

I can spend a while doing the flight planning stuff but putting everything into the FMC doesn't take long at all once you have everything prep'd properly.

Does anyone else have Aerosoft Mallorca X or Balearic X installed; if so do you see any static aircraft at LEPA at the gates or on the ramps??

My LEPA is completely empty; all the ground vehicles are there but there are no aircraft???

A few more pictures from some recent flights I've completed:

I have Aerosoft's Mallorca X installed and I have aircraft at the gates. However, I am using MyTraffic 2013 as my traffic add-on to place AI planes at airports.

I cannot remember as I installed this a few months ago, but I know some of Aerosoft's airports have an option during the installer asking if you want to add static aircraft. I would maybe uninstall and then reinstall to see if this option is there or not.

This is how LEPA appears for me:

Got it sorted :D

I'm using mytraffic x pro 5.4b;

I deactivated mytraffic in the scenery library, restarted FSX then activated it again and now LEPA has plenty of ai aircraft....strange!?!?

Thanks again.

I have a program called Plan-G installed for flight planning? Don't think you can export directly though. Not that I am bothered, since I like fiddling with the FMC. :)

Oh, and just to let you guys know, the pictures you post are an inspiration for me when I are getting frustrated at my lack of knowledge. Keep posting please. :)

Plan-G is great - I only found out about it from the guys last week when we flew online. It's more for VFR flying and planning. For my IFR flights I use either the route generated from my virtual airline or else vRoute.

I'm eagerly waiting for the release of PFPX which is 'proper' flight planning software which is pretty much equivalent to real life. The detail is just unbelievable!

If you are flying the UK it is worth looking at SimSRD which is based on the UK standard routings.

To be honest I get nearly as much buzz from doing the flight planning properly as doing the actually flying itself.

Did they ever? :/

I know they had older 737s, but also they have a few 757s..

From what I remember their 800's are a mix of fully owned and leased, I know last year they had a single a320 on a short term lease for the summer so a couple of these could be in a similar situation (their number of 800's has been jumping around a fair bit the last couple of years). Realistically it makes more financial sense for smaller low cost airlines to buy up older aircraft dirt cheap which offsets the higher maintenance and fuel costs. Furthermore I was talking to a captain not too long ago who said they're getting a fair few more this 800s year so perhaps the older 300s are on their way out. However I can’t see the 757's going anywhere soon though because of the extra range they provide.

Plan G is great for VFR and its free.

PFPX looks very good Ringo. When is it due? I remember you linking it a while back.

I'm currently using Aivlasoft and its brilliant too.
