grudas... this may involve a bit of travel but this seems like a good idea (handbuilt wheels for <£200):

Suspect the offer won't be there long though, so make your mind up quick :p

these sound good ill have to think about it!

get some mavic open sports on some 105 hubs. They'll go on and on and on.

looked online but can't find anything that is built already? unless getting a custom set built is a good option?

these - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/miche-race-clincher-road-bike-wheelset/

dont look bad tho? opinions?

ouch.. that accident will sit in my head for tomorrows commute for sure :|

Talking gears.

12-25 on the back for me, and 39/52 up front!

If I bought a new bike, I would go 34/50 and 11-25 on the rear though, give more top end and more lower down!

Like this makes you MTFU on the super steep climbs though.

speaking of wheels my hand built wheels from China came, there absolutely perfect. Kinlin 270 rims on chosen hubs.

Solid 1390g wheel set for 230quid, bargain!

these are tiagra hubs, but the difference isnt huge

for the kind of rough treatment you are dishing out, they'll last far longer than "factory" wheels

I'm going to be buying some new wheels in a bit over a month. I've been looking at the RS30s, which I can get at Planet-X for £130. The ones you've linked above would be £137 with shipping. How much better would the handbuilt ones be over factory built, given how close th eprice is?

Well that wasn't the best way to start the week, I'm a member of the club now.

Turned a sharp left hand band to join the cycle path....but the front tyre just said no. I was on the deck before I knew what happened! Everything is ok bike wise, the usual scratches...and I've lost my bar end :(

But thankfully my lovely Castelli jersey is intact :)

the factory ones might be a bit lighter, but the shimano hubs will still be going on their third replacement rim long after you've tossed the factory ones into the trash.

Also, the spokes are much more obtainable, and cheaper. If you're using them every day and in foul conditions it's no contest for me

that rose deal is MUCH better than the one i posted though - open pro is ~50-80g per wheel lighter than open sport.

All these 36 hole wheelsets are a bit overkill unless your a pretty dam heavy..

RS30's are a good shout if thats all your budget allows, you don't get much better than RS30s for the price

these look really good for the price! :) thanks!

hmm or these.. i guess ill need to do some research and compare tiagra to 105's

Do you reckon either of those wheels would do me any good? The crappy ones that shipped with my bike need truing after every decent climb. I'm not majorly fussed about weight (within reason) but so long as they can take my 90kg+ on a bumpy commute and the back one can take the abuse of a climb then I'm happy.

I'm guessing at 36 spoke they'd do the job better than the 24f/32r set that came with my CX bike but a 2nd opinion wouldn't hurt.

my current wheels flex like hell and im only 71kg + ~11ish bike.. :o

Managed to put in 75 miles yesterday, was a really good ride, we bumped into a sportive that was going on and joined in for half the route, someone was taking photos half way round, be nice to be able to find out who that was and were to buy from, anyway, the problem i had was at about 40miles i started to cramp up really badly in my legs, it got worse and worse and ended up spinning the last 5 miles. Anyone know what part of my diet and on bike nutrition needs to be looked at to stop this happening?

lol which wheels are those? Mine and my bike's combined weight is well over 100kg. That's before I even stick my clothes, shoes and backpack on.

Also, is anything planned for a ride this weekend Pete? I'll be free this Sat. See if the lads fancy doing something. Maybe the rake if you're up for it.

Link? How are they for flex etc? I'm only 70ish kgs so shouldn't be too bad I suppose, I'm speccing my new build for summer as we speak. :D

Have you weighed them yourself to verify the weight?
