Haha, definitely.

I'm happy to be in the top 9% overall on the Strava Base Miles challenge (as of this post) but I'm a bit disappointed I won't be able to make the 800m achievement. I should hit 700 tomorrow though.

I'm hoping to get another couple of decent rides in tonight and tomorrow so that I can at least hit 200. Nothing spectacular, but I'll be happy enough given I don't commute and I've had two weeks off in the middle of the month!

Is endomondo free? Can I upload gpx files to it? What does it do differently or better compared to strava?

Yeah its free and you can upload your files. It does essentially the same as Strava but it doesn't have segments. I don't really like it, it's a bit messy. But some of the data it gives is better.

Yeah it's free. It's very like Strava but it seems more social and casual than strava is. I prefer Strava (especially because Strava does segments) but being able to set custom challenges makes endomondo worth using also. I use both. And yes, you can upload GPX files.

jeez the ticking noise from the back is killing me! :o it kinda sounds like spring.. any ideas what it could be? its clearly coming from the rear hub area.. bar the skewer what else uses a spring on the back?

High Wycombe ?

Dam, if i had known, you could have joined us on a group ride..
or i coud have come to you, im in the high wycombe cycling club

Yep High Wycombe mate, that would have been a good laugh. We actually bumped into a massive ride, a reliability ride or something from Team Quest who are a shop in Harrow? anyway must have been a good 100 people out, me and my mate took it as a challenge, waited for them all to pass then worked our way up to the front group, was good fun then as we had never ridden with a group with more than 3 in it before :D We are very much interested in joining a cycling club now

Well at least you were properly riding.

Turbo trainer rides shouldn't count imo

I dunno, it's hard to judge distance from turbo rides but time-wise an hour on the turbo in the evening is worth a lot more than an hour on the road.

Is it a constant noise or only when you freewheel?

Payday today so treated myself to some new bearings for my wheels and some new cleats, woo. :o

But for the hour on the turbo trainer I can have the resistance set to -6 and get an average speed of something ridiculous. At least on the road if you go down a hill you will need to climb up that distance again at some point. Its not perfect, but it does seem fairer. :)

Got my wiggle order today, arrived on the 6th working day, including through the snow and to Australia! Took three weeks for my Evans order to arrive, think that is the quickest delivery I have had yet from RM.

Pity I am in Sydney till Thursday eve, but got a short ride in this morning in the rain before heading down here.

I agree, so if people are pushed for time and are using turbos then they'd get more out of focusing on the quality of their training and put the mileage challenges to one side. :)
