*** The Official Sony Xperia T Thread ***

Im using one now, only had it less than 24 hours!! It will replace my xperia S!! first impressions so far .. fantastic device, feels much smoother, battery I can't really comment on yet but the screen feels nicer than the Xperia S, has a gs3 feel to it. Not finished adding all my apps back to it as im waiting on a 32gb sd card to come through. Why have i got one, I work for a uk network and partake in a sony scheme :) has its advantages!!

Mini review of mine :)

It arrived on Friday to replace my Xperia S.

first impressions are very good. It's basically a slightly slimmer, slightly lighter version of the S - with a bigger and brighter screen. Build quality is very good - the rear cover isn't sparkly like some of the pics show, it's a matt black and quite soft, think the Sony X10 here. It works well IMO.

Camera is brilliant - very fast to respond too. Daytime pics on par with the Xperia S when you just use the phone screen to view, but there must be some difference with the compression or such on them, as when transferred to a desktop PC or such the difference is noticable. Low light pics come out much better now thanks to a better LED flash.

Speed overall is fantastic. It's sharper and faster than the Xperia S, not that the S was slow by any means. Lots of flack in some forums and so on about it not being a quad core... it doesn't NEED to be a quad core, it's a fast dual core and it works very well.

Battery life is decent, no issues getting through a whole day with wifi enabled, and bluetooth used in the car. Charge overnight, good to go again. Similar to my experience with the S really.

Speaker phone is better than the S - likely due to better 'speakers' in the unit itself. Not tried using it for music yet so can't report on that.

Lack of JB is annoying, I admit that, I have been annoyed at EVERY Sony phone I've owned for a similar reason. I just hope the update comes quickly, however, out of the box it runs very quickly and has everything I'd want - lack of JB annoys me purely because, like you lot, I like to tweak, I like to have the latest tech etc etc - I can't see it bothering joe public.

Marketing - as it's the 'bond phone' - i.e. in the new skyfall film, I guess it'll sell well enough for Sony to continue to produce these.

I''m seriously considering this phone as a replacement for my water damaged SGS2 but I understand you can't take the battery out!?!?

I never realised this was the case with any phones to be honest but I understand the i-phones and some of the HTC range are the same?? - Not a major issue I guess but what do you do if the phone needs a "hard reset"??? I've had occasions with every phone I've had that needed the battery just pulling and re-inserting to get things back up and running again!

Not sure about the XT, but with the one series phones, you just hold the power down for 10 seconds and it forces a reboot.

Saying that the one S is extremely stable, when I first got it, I had like 2 freezes and it automatically restarted twice in like 2 months and after the first system update, I have not had any slow downs, system freezes or resets at all, I think in total I have maybe restarted my mobile like 10-15 times (if even that) since April and it wasn't due to any problems either :p

I can confirm this still works on the T ;) but only tried it once, just to check!

I'm really liking my new Xperia T but just recently (as far as I've noticed anyway) the handset seems to like turning the screen on for a few seconds from idle and the back off again - this can happen seemingly at random!?!?

I've not installed any app's that I can imagine are causing this - has anyone got any ideas??

Thanks....

Just been reading up on this device; Why isn't this phone more popular? Seems to be pretty awesome!

It will be all but forgotten when Nex4 hits :D.

There just isn't a standout feature on this phone - everything is very meh IMO. Updates are slow and I bet the ROM com is slow too.

Well, for the average consumer (read: family) it looks like a great phone. Nexus 4 for us nutjobs :)

It'll probably get JB quicker than ICS on previous Sony handsets since that update was a bitch, even for ROM developers.

Fair enough on point 1 but point 2 about updates...

Sony's latest high-end Xperia phones - the Xperia T, TX and V - will be updated to 4.1 Jelly Bean in mid-Q1 next year.

Sony suck big-time. :D

I think Sony are still seeding ICS for the XS (in other regions). JB will come at the last possible moment of Q1, take many months to seed to all regions and after the bug ridden ICS update I don't have much hope.

Such an amazing upgrade going from an X10 to an XT.

Very happy with this.

Going to leave it a few months before I unlock the bootloader and start messing about with it though as I really like this new TimescapeUI that comes installed as standard.

The only thing I am actually missing right now is adblock.

Oh and one last thing. When I first launched the browser on this phone it defaulted to the Sony website and told me all about the new Xperia Z (GRRRR!!) that is being released in March. They had to rub it in, didn't they!!

Jelly Bean update was released today for certain carriers.

Waiting for a rooted version to install.

Also turns out I have an XT that cannot have it's bootloader unlocked, but at least I can root it and I don't mind faffing about because of it.
