i love the smell of petrol, but hate the smell of hp imaging oil. both petroleum hydrocarbons. wonder why they smell so different.

The interesting part of that article is how the entrenched view that smell derives from the shape of molecules and corresponding receptors has unexplained anomalies, so might not be the full explanation.

Its a well known fact that petrol smelling nice is proportional to the amount of crack you smoke...... :rolleyes:

Love the smell of petrol, Always have but I do prefer the smell of 2 stoke oil & am always pleased when some noisy 2 stroke goes past leaving a trail of lovely smell behind it. :cool:

When I'm filling my car, I love the fumes that come out of the tank :|

I have no idea why it smells nice.
