Type 45 Destroyer Visit

Not sure what kind of areas you'll be able to access but it's worth a wander round particularly for anyone who has been round some of the older ships or if you've never been on any at all.

Also of intrest is HMS Illustrious final visit to Liverpool before being decommission in 2014 .:(

Some one dropped a clanger there, but she can apparently be fitted with Tomahawk cruise missiles, if ever required.

at great cost, as a last minute UOR. this is where our money gets wasted, short sighted penny saving on big projects in the short term that will cost us much more money to get "up to scratch" later but it doesnt matter because it will be in another years budget. except when we get to the point where we are now where all the "laters" have built up so much we have to cut whole capabilities for a decade or so.

Hmm, 38 minutes and £6 on a train to Gt Yarmouth Station, and then whatever 6 minutes worth of cab is (how does 6 minutes in a car take 48 minutes walking!)

Anyone know what the rules will be on photographs?

Not quite destroyer sized, but I've piloted a Minesweeper (HMS Dulverton, not sure if it's still on the go) up and down the Forth! :D

Peeow peeow!

That's a bit closer to home for me. May have to check that out!

For anyone interested in naval stuff, there's the French Frigate Primauguet docked in North Shields at the minute. Not sure if she's open to visits though.

Seem to get a fair few warships coming into the Tyne. A few weeks ago a Dutch frigate, the Van Speijk was at the same quay.
