Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Anyone know of anything that aids fat loss? Ive pretty much sorted my diet and am exercising everyday. Beginning of the year i was 14st 3, this morning i weighed at 13st 1. Running, cycling and weight lifting almost everyday, my legs and bum are losing fat and i can tell my face has lost a bit but my belly just doesnt seem to want to go down.
Mainly asking about supps as i keep getting a newsletter from a site ive used and some offers seem tempting, but no point wasting money if its no good.

'Fat burners' generally contain amino acids that play a non-rate-limiting role in the fat metabolism cycle, i.e. lypolysis uses L-carnitine which is contained in stuff like Thermobol and whatnot, but the body doesn't need any additional L-carnitine to do its thing. So adding more will do sweet F.A.

TL;DR

Nope - just hard work on both the diet and exercise front, I'm afraid. :)

By the looks of it, you have it already nailed. You don't need any chemical assistance. Though there are plenty of supplements out there which you can use.

If you are lacking energy and want to keep going for longer, then caffeine is a great (cheap and proven) supplement.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you continue doing whatever you have been doing so far.

For me, an ECA stack works best, though, different people swear by different (cutting) supplements.

With regards to the belly not going down: in general, men hold fat on the bellies, while women hold their fat on their upper arms and upper legs. As long as you continue doing what you are doing and the weight/fat keeps coming off, eventually, the belly will go down - no question about it. Just keep at it and remember, consistency is the key.

Good luck.

What entirely the £"$$ is that article!!! Jesus crist, its basically old man takes steroids to run a private drug empire for fat old people! Only for some reason the BBC have spun it as POSITIVE! Several pages of them denouncing and reprimanding athletes who are drug abusing cheaters. And some 70 odd yr old doctor comes along not only using the same illegal anabolics but using it to sell anti aging services!

ARGH ROID RAGE FULL BORE!!!!

not sure m8'y thing is its a pain to do cos well basically i dont have enough to update ppl on. I mean ive covered the injection stuff, talked at length about juicing, pros and cons, and really now its just grinding thru the months and years to get somewhere of note. I dont feel to a limited audience of people (basically OCUK) that i can offer much better advice than they will get here, and now with the facebook group where we can openly discuss areas of the sport we cant on here, it seems a bit irrelevant.

AFAIK the only real effective fat loss supplements are
a) only really useful for shifting stubborn areas once you're down to the 10% and below area
b) all the good ones e.g. alpha yohimbine are banned in the EU (but not in other places).

The thing with losing fat is, it's all diet and carefully eating under your TDEE, but not eating doesn't involve parting with cash, which isn't what supp companies want, hence 'diet food' and 'fat burners' to make you buy stuff to put in your mouth, when fat loss is generally about not putting stuff in your mouth.

Not often I say it but well said.

For mass gain I've been using Calcium Caseinate from TPW. It is reviewed as a good night time shake but my god it is vile! I wretch every time I throw that gloopy crap down my neck. Now I know how the GF feels.

Bah - I just necked it. I wouldn't be able to taste the difference if I'd thrown it up, so wasn't bothered. :D

As amino compounds go, OAKG definitely requires committement. :p

Well as it's sour it should mix nicely with fruit juice.
I had it in my morning shake today and all it did was make the butterscotch whey a little sour.
