How do people 'not work'?

These threads are pointless.

You get the toffs screaming "kill the peasants".
The peasants scream "**** you".
Some try and broker a peace deal.
Peace falls apart cause some snotty school kid keeps yapping away about things way over his head.
Thread gets closed.

Crack on.

This.... Ignorance abounds in this thread.

I mean people capable of working of course

Of course you do but people get upset when you do not properly specify this as they will assume you are talking about them or their family when they are legitimately unable to work for whatever reason.

If I won the lottery I could happily "not work".

But then I'd also have the money to keep myself constantly entertained. So I can understand the desire to 'not work' in essence, it's more the people who are happy not working but don't have any money to do anything I don't really get.

I know a guy who inherited £40k from his grandparents, he lives at home and paid no rent but used to do a low paid job (around £18k a year before tax). Almost as soon as the inheritance cheque came in he 'coincidentally' became agoraphobic and decided he couldn't hold down a job because of it.

It's been 5 years now since he's worked and he's nearly used up all his savings. He doesn't go out (nor wants to because of his 'condition') and is now starting to moan about the low benefits he gets. We say to him "why don't you get a job" and he just replies with "screw working for a living" and genuinely thinks his life is better than mine because I have to get up every morning whereas he can get up when he wants and play with his music equipment all day.

If I won the lottery I could happily "not work

Absolutely fine, only people I have issue with is those who are on benefits for a long period but capable of working, unless you plan to try and collect benefits while having a life changing sum of cash in the bank from a lottery win

If you won the lottery, blew it all on partying and then 12 months later its all gone and your claiming JSA, you should be freakin shot for being a complete muppet

I've had the last two and half months off, reckon the break may last until summer. Took 9 months off in 2009. Starting to get bored now though. :(

After leaving my full time job last September, I only worked very casually/PT until December, as I wanted to go on holiday for 2 months with my friends who had already booked a month and a bit. No way would I have been able to go if I had found another proper job. Living at home so costs were minimal, I got way too lazy and comfortable just waiting around for my holiday :p

I came back a couple of weeks ago and am now looking for a job every day 11-5, it has basically become my full time job. Havent claimed JSA yet if I don't find anything till next week will probably apply then.

I'm out of work now for 16 weeks and it's absolutely killing me. Because I have managed money badly in the past, JSA just about covers my monthly debt so I have nothing spare. I luckily live at home but I'm turning into a nasty nasty person, personality has changed completely since being being unemployed :(

I've had numerous interviews, just not had any luck with them :(

I couldn't stay unemployed like people out there... I NEED back into work.
