Gaming moments that surprised and delighted you

My first large group in WoW (vanilla, when one of the instances in black rock mountain was a 10-man - what was it called?) - the sheer amount of chaos was absurdly exhilirating. I don't think any 40-man raid ever quite matched that initial "what the **** is going on" panic of a mighty ten players together.

The first time my WoW druid got flight form was also absolutely sublime. I did nothing for about an hour other than fly around joyously.

Blackrock Spire, or Blackrock Depths?

Blackrock Depths was originally capped at 10 players and was the only entrance to Molton Core. Until they developed the quest. It is still pretty hectic with the size and the amount of trash, but obviously you just faceroll it now. Nobody really knew where they were going, and most still don't ;)

Blackrock Spire was originally capped at 15 players and Blackwing Lair could be accessed from it. People would spend ages forming a 15 man group, with most time being spent looking for someone to open the UBRS door. LBRS runs were more of a rarity, easier and didn't require a key, but also very challenging.

Amount of runs which fell apart in the egg room or Rend... The final trash before Drakkisath was a huge step up from the rest of the instance though. Was really cool back in the day. Oh and my first encounter with the Beast was pretty intense. Oh oh oh... and having the kite Drakkisath strat to Rend's room, whilst killing his two Chromatic champions. So epic!

Eventually got changed to a 10 man, and now is a 5 man today.

Scholomance and Stratholme both allowed 10 players also.

Brought back many memories, thanks :D

Bunging a game I got free with a graphics card in, out of pure curiosity, not expecting much.
Then staring, jaw dropped, at the sheer beauty of AC2 graphics and soundtrack. Hooked ever since.

Well I'd be surprised they could keep that hidden until the reveal, surely it'd be in your face.

well the current protagonists were actually your old followers. You'd been captured and had your mind wiped. It was a kind of humane jedi way of giving you a second chance. The great thing about the game was that through your choices you could prove them right by turning out alright this time around, or not by turning into a complete psycho all over again :D

The real kicker was finding out one of your current companions was the one who did all this to you in the first place.

Uncharted 1,2 and 3 If I could pick one Dev team to jump onto the PC it would be Naughty Dog they put 110% into there games unlike most other dev teams.

Fifa always first couple games :)

Battlefield 3 I still get moments that surprised and delight me lol

Walking Dead for me

Never expected much from the game, but found myself being completely emotionally involved with a game built around quick time events :)

Storytelling at its finest

Moments of singleplayer in game-changing games (oh punny) are brilliant. Call of Duty 2 + 4, Half-Life, Portal, Halo, Bioshock, World in Conflict and a few of the Tomb Raiders.

I was also in shock and awe during certain multiplayer moments in Battlefield 1942, 2, and 3, Call of Duty 1, 2 and 4, Super Smash Bros and Joint Ops funnily enough.

PS1 game. Hog wars, Didn't expect it to be a good game.

Playing the Call of duty 1 demo it amazed me.

WoW kills for me, nothing has beat them. Effort that you put it makes the glory on the kill so much better.

C'Thun (Heart pulpitations and nerd screams)
M'Uru after 2 weeks of sanity shredding attempts to get it down in the world Top 5.
Kil'jaeden - Top 5 kill and world first drop of the Legendary Bow.

From the olden days:
-Playing Delta Force online for the first time and being blown away with a huge (at the time) gun battle.
-Playing Ultima Online and experiencing an online world.

Modern inequivalent
-First experience of a ginormous Planetside 2 tank/air/infantry battle.
-Guild Wars 2, brilliant game and the future model for MMO's.

-Cyberdemon Vs. Spider Mastermind in Doom2 - zomg AI in action!
-First time I saw someone conc out of the water to the balc on 2fort in tfc (wub). Honestly I thought it was some weird glitch or cheat. The peeps who knew how to conc (then later on bunnyhop/circlestrafe) etc in the early days were like gods amongst men at the time.
-The Dentist office in Bioshock 1. Mooch into this smokey room. Dead slicer on the bench. All very eerie. Take a look around and find a couple of items on a desk along with a audio recording. See the smoke engulf you again around the desk while you listen to the tape. Turn around to leave and... BLAM! Scared the pants off me as it caught me totally off guard. Sharp inhale of breath and belly laughing at the same time. Brilliant.

So many more too. :)

Aerith.:( Just the most incredible moment of gaming ever for me
Seeing Rapture for the first time
KOTOR as mentioned
The Landsmeet in DA:O...didn't realise how intricate it was going to be.
Spending what must have been 1/2 hour just sitting there deciding who I was going to save in ME!
