Hurrah, decent weather at last. Cool but dry and with minimal wind. I've got a 25 mile route in mind for this evening. I've even checked Google Maps to make sure it's reasonably lit...

Why didn't I think of submitting multiple ballot entries!?

My company is entering teams into BHF L2B again this year but Ride100 would have been much better I reckon.

I thought I'd just wait now as I expect the magazine will arrive tomorrow, keep the suspense going a little longer.

On the website though it now says the following:

"The ballot was drawn randomly utilising the answers provided by registrants on their entry forms. It was weighted for Health and Safety purposes to help the maximum number of people get safely around the route within the nine-hour time limit."

I've got a feeling my chance has been lessened, as many of the questions were things like:

- Whether you are a member of a Cycling Club.
- How many Sportives you have completed.
- If you are a member of British Cycling.

Presumably they have drawn people who have got a tick next to all of the above.

I suppose it makes sense, as for such a huge event, the number of accidents would go up significantly if its typical of some other events where people are giving it a go, despite not really having much experience on a bike. Plus its interesting that the route is pretty much identical to the Classic, so I wonder how its going to pan out with clearing people from the course.

Well riding was much more fun this morning, when it was DRY! Fine rain that soaks ya through ;)

2 new PRs on Strava on the way home though!! Pleased with that :)

Bloody bike knows I'm replacing parts. After all that WTFing about my 'worn out' chain that seemed fine it's now decided to start skipping on my way home. I've already ordered a new one but still, I thought I could ride out the rest of rainy Feb before sticking it on...

might be the hub? :o

Bloody hell given the ratio or people in versus out, I expect charity has a LOT of places then...

It's hard to know.
Back when it was announced, they had more information on charity places, such as how much it costs per number of places for a charity. That information is gone now and I can't remember the breakdown.

There are 48 charities listed on the website, with the large ones listed near the top likely having the most places:
http://www.prudentialridelondon.co....l_RideLondon-Surrey_100___Charity_Listing.htm

Then of course there are many smaller charities who will have paid for places, but these aren't going to be listed on the website as they likely already filled their places.

Given that they have billed it as similar to the London Marathon, I would think at least a quarter must be charity places, possibly more.

The hub's fine. I checked it all over when I (pointlessly) stripped it all down to clean everything. The chain's just stupidly stretched. 3000ish miles including a fair few hills must have just been too much. The new chain & cassette will probably be here tomorrow anyway so it's all good.

I replaced the chain and casette on my commuter thinking they must be worn as it was jumping gears whenever I gave it the beans. Yes the chain had stretched a fair bit and was pretty worn as was the casette, but replacing them didn't fix it, turned out I needed new gear cables and casings as they were all gunked up, worn and stretched.
