*** League of Legends ***

I'm on tonight at 7:00pm if anyone wants a few games, add Claymech - Willing to play any role if needed just wanted to clear that up :d

I'll add you later if I manage to get on after the gym amigo. I play most nights. Silly of me I am playing till around 2am most nights at the moment. Think it's making my work day harder but I need my LoL fix :D.

Mainly playing Tristana at the moment. Level 25. Runes are focussed mainly on Crit Dmg and Attack Speed but I am thinking of changing them to Armour Penetration. With th CD runes, my build revolves around Crit Chance. Late game I try and stay behind the tanks/out of trouble and add to the total damage. You'd be surprised how quick I can take down champs. Anyone that tried to run I just jump on them to slow them down :). With the Frozen Mallet they aren't going anywhere.

Still I am looking for a new champ. I like the idea of Sona, Fiddlesticks and maybe playing support to a decent damage dealer.

Will do. Have bought some previously but will wait for now.

Decided to buy some cheap hero's and started with Garen and just had one of my best games. 10k 3d 3a. We did get beat mind you but still went quite well. Though now 4 defeats in a row.

Garen is a good champ to learn with imo.

Was the first champ i ever used. You can get into the action or away with his Q ability, does decent damage with his E (spin to win) and his Ulti is good !

How are you getting on with the champs you are trying?

To be fair Garen's the only new one ive tried so far but enjoying him. Will be making more of an effort to try out quite a few over the next week or so.

I like playing in the top lane but heard Malph gets banned quite a bit in ranked games. Can anyone else recommend any other champs that are decent up top but less likely to be banned? Kha'zix, perhaps?

I think Kha'Zix is probably got a higher ban percentage than Malphite at the moment :P. See him banned or first picked every game I play :P.

It depends what role you want to play, Bruiser/Tank?

Singed is a lot of fun and frequently underrated, Lee Sin has a lot of fun skills and a high skill cap that will either make you an overall better player in the end or reveal how bad you are at landing skills :P Jayce is a lot of fun but has a lot of skills and complicated combos to manage along with some reasonably difficult skillshots.

They're my preferences.

Just had an even better game with Garen 11/1/10

When you refer to someone being banned what do you mean? I assume it doesnt mean the obvious that youre not allowed to use a certain hero?

Edit: Can you save replays like you do with certain rts games?

Well done :D Garen is great to learn the game mechanics with.

If you pick 'Normal - Draft Pick' when you go to do Summoners Rift 5v5, or alternatively when at 30 and you can solo queue for Ranked games, you will discover that each team is allowed 3 bans. The current most frequent bans are Malphite, Darius, Kha'Zix, Blitzcrank, Amumu, Olaf in my opinion. Though Olaf slightly less at the moment and sometimes Lee Sin. Basically, any champion that can turn the tides of a game on their own. Once banned, neither team can pick the champion for that game.

You can certainly save replays, but you need an external application - the one most people will recommend, Lol Replay barely uses any of your CPU and the video files are tiny too. They give you free-roaming spectate as if you were watching a game within the LoL client. Google 'Lol Replay' and it's the top link.

I've been recording all of my games since about a week after I started playing, I have about 400 on record :P

Actually, if thats the case should you generally be playing draft pick? I didn't really understand the difference so always play blind.

Yeah LoL Replay is nice to use but it's currently broken.

Quick question. In the early levels should you still be buying runes albeit you can only get the very weak ones? Or do you need to save the ip for the larger ones in later levels?

Buy T1 runes, avoid T2 and then buy T3 runes at 30 when you have the IP and full page unlocked.

Flat Armor Yellows and Flat Magic Resist Blues take priority becuase you will use them on every champion. Then AD reds and MS Quints. Followed my MPen Reds and AD Quints (keep in mind you pair Mpen with the MS, this is just purchasing order). You can make 3 rune page out of that to fit almost every champion in the game, specialty rune pages will come later. They will look like this

1: AD red, Armor Yellow, MR Blue, AD Quint
2: "" , "", "", MS Quint
3: Mpen Red, "", "", ""

Hi, long time lurker of this thread :) Could somebody trust me the password for mumble? I would like to play with you guys tonight (after 9pm).

I'm a noob, but have learnt a few things from this thread :D

in-game name is crusayder

what, getting kills wasnt the issue. we simply couldnt tank their damage.

A lot of factors come in to play early game, they had damage for a reason. Being able to shut down any kind of carry will soon enough have an affect on the opposing teams late game, I completely understand nothing is as simple in black and white. The thing splits a good player and a great player is someone who can take a step back and think 'this is what I did wrong and this is what I can do to fix that'.

I'm not trying to offend your skill before you try to take the defensive I am just here to simply give advise :)

Same for me actually :) if someone could do that.

I very rarely play blind pick now. Generally either draft with a premade team or a ranked team. You get more stats when you play ranked, you can also see your rating. The other modes have a rating you just don't see it.

To play draft you need I think 15 or more champs in total.

Loving this thread atm. I have garen but only ever played him once and failed miserably lol. Really need to practice my top laning as sooo use to jungling and supporting that I dont play other roles that well :-(

You should only move to draft once you have a few things.

1. A selection of champions for at least 2/3 roles, you also need ~15 champs available to you before you can even join a draft game, this does includes free champions though.

2. Understand about counter picking, the heart of LoL and draft mode is counter picking, someone picks Garen top? I pick Kayle and ruin his day, etc.

3. Extension of 1, you should be able to PLAY 2/3 roles, a lot of time you flat out won't be able to play your preferred role in a draft game due to pick order (your team picks champions in a specific order).

Once you can do all those, you will discover Draft games are far and away more fun than Blind as you get to say goodbye to being hard countered due to bad luck.
