Prostitution - your stance

It's not my fault I can't pay tax on it, I and many others would if we could, and it isn't as if I am not avoiding all tax, clients who pay have paid tax on their income, and then when that money is spent its by and large taxed again.

One could say the same about drug dealers, I'm sure people will accept that one too.

Pretty sure you could pay tax if you want to.

I'm not sure if I agree with it - however I agree with what has been mentioned... if it was legalised and then properly regulated/taxed/made-safe etc, it would be so much safer for everyone involved and it would contribute to the tax fund (As well as reducing the medical cost for issues that will be removed due to safe practises). This should also be done with Cannabis in my opinion, but that's for another time :p

And risk further questioning, prosecution, persecution and an audit? NOM8

Also, principle, if the government wants to criticise me and claim that what I am doing is wrong, then I am not paying tax on it to help them persecute me.

I forgot to add that earlier.

Do you pay any tax at all?

I have had part time jobs and paid normal tax on it, I do the bare minimum to avoid any kind of raised eyebrows and pay my bills that I can't pay in cash. I used to rent one of my rooms to a friend who put all the bills in his name which was convenient but alas, he has gone and I don't really have anyone else I trust to the extent I did him, so am seeing how I can go it alone for now.

Pretty shaky ground then. Does it not feel a bit strange that you're basically using taxpayer's money without contributing yourself?

I wonder if the taxman might ever come knocking? If you can't prove your income (guessing you make a fair bit from being a prossie) then I wonder where you stand legally? Tax evasion?

How does that work with pensions, bank accounts, mortgages?

Sounds pretty dodgy.

Do you agree with drug dealing too?

If it is legalised, will they have to start offering refunds if satisfaction is not obtained?

?
It begs the question how you expect prostitutes to pay tax given that its not legal income; or if you expect them to not use public services?

I don't disagree with you persay, and yes it is a form of tax evasion, but really what can they do?

Set up a company to let people "pay for their time"?

Or maybe not do it in the first place?

I could sell drugs if I wanted to but I choose not to.

Yes. Well given that we're not going to get rid of prostitution, lets tackle it from that point of view.

Again - I don't necessarily disagree, but we're not in that perfect world without crime, drugs, tax evaders and investment bankers.

Well I don't put the vast majority of my money into a bank account and my property is bought and paid for out right.

Why should I pay more than the absolute minimum I can get away with when I am persecuted for the living I make in society? I can't take out a mortgage, get a loan to finance a car or set up loads of lovely simple direct debits, I am punished for my life style and on that principle will not pay income tax, as I do not gain the benefits fully legal work gets.

If other tax payers have a problem with it, they can start campaigning for sex workers rights and vote correctly for parties with progressive and intelligent evidence based policies on these issues instead of just looking down upon sex workers.

Why don't you pursue a line of making a living that isn't frowned upon, and doesn't lend itself to tax evasion?

Has anyone forced you into it?

Set up a company and let people pay for "spending time" with them. Consultancy!

What I find even more comical is that he believes he's some sort of lone guardian, on here, standing up for women's rights yet he's taking advantage of them (women, not their rights) for personal gain. All whilst performing illegal activities.

I can earn what I would earn using my degree and what most people earn in a week in a nights work, this leaves me free time to do what ever I please, including work more, which also means I can better provide for both myself and anyone that relies on me.

It has its disadvantages and I won't be able to do it forever, but it works out well for me and I can sleep very well at night knowing my morals correct and that it is society at fault.

I also love my job, not the obvious perks because that isn't all that great, but the sense of helping people, especially around Christmas time when people can get very very lonely and have confessed to me they have thought about doing something stupid, who have since gone on to get real help, alas, not all end that way which is something that still gets to me to this day.

Right. It's just your stance seems completely backwards to me. You say that you refuse to pay tax because your line of work is persecuted, and paint a sorry picture of all the benefits you are denied because of it, yet its your choice.

I disagree with Sigmas notion that one might start selling drugs, as drugs arguably cause more direct harm (not going to discuss the evils in the sex trade here), but he's bang on in other areas.

Your morals are correct? I'd question that. You actively choose a lifestyle which results in you evading tax. Can you point out where your morals are here? Unless of course you don't see tax evasion as immoral, in which case I'd question your judgement even more.

I've looked into it, it doesn't work out that simply unfortunately.

First of all, im not a lone guardian, plenty of people on here agree with me on most topics, and im not standing up for "womens rights", im merely standing up for what is right. Feminism is just as much a male issue as it is female.

I would love to hear your explanation as to how I am taking advantage of women. Do you also feel men are exploited in the reverse situation by prostitutes of either gender?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

The two are linked! We can't talk about prostitution without talking about the sex trade. The sex trade is linked to drugs, this is pretty obvious.

I highly doubt all prostitutes are working in the trade because they chose a rubbish degree.
