he's been involved in a fair bit of motorsport as well racing in a few various series over the years.

Atkinson purchased his McLaren – at the time the fastest vehicle in the world – for £650,000 in 1997 following his staring role in Mr Bean the movie.

Fastest vehicle in the world? I call lies on that assertion.

The F1 set the record for the fastest ever production vehicle in 1998, hitting 243mph. It remained the world’s fastest car until it was eventually bettered by the 253mph Bugatti Veyron in 2005.

I think they meant fastest production car which, as far as I know, is correct. They are wrong to say that the veyron was the one to beat it because that honour goes to the Koenigsegg CCR, which held the record for two months before the Veyron smashed it.

I thought the original Koenigsegg CCGT beat the Mclaren as well, but apparently it was a teeny bit short of it

How would anyone not know who Mr Bean is?

Some people prefer to think of Rowan Atkinson when he was funny, the Blackadder/Not the Nine O'clock News days. As far as I'm concerned Mr Bean and Johnny English are abortions of characters.

Scary thing is, the car could be worth up to 2.5 million now. With it being owned by a famous actor and with its history, probablt closer to 3 million.

Also, the fact mclaren are rebuilding it, so essentially it will be virtually new car. In that respect, the repair was definitely worth it.

Rebuilding it? The pic where it's on that flat bed truck shows there is so little left of it!

Would love some photos of the rebuild. It's going to end up 95% new isn't it?

Mr Bean is truly world famous, India to China to Korea people I've met know him.
(obviously not an exhaustive list of countries)

Apart from the Johnny English films, Rowan has had a fine comedy career, I wonder how depressed he gets when most people choose to refer to him as his weakest character all the time.

I'm sure he checks his bank balance and then goes out for a blast in one of his many cars, and then returns to his mansion.

Must be soul destroying thinking how rich his "weakest" character has made him. :p

He's also written a lot of comedy, he does stand-up, he is an after dinner speaker, he has starred in like 20 films, several TV series etc. - he's definitely made a few quid during his career.

Personally I find him hilarious, although I believe he peaked during the not the nine o'clock news days.
