Do think the nintendo Wii U is going to fail ??

The main issue they will have to face is that the casual market that bought the Wii might not be there any more, a lot of them would have moved onto tablets and mobile phone gaming.

Its massively overpriced, not enough games and the controller with a screen is a gimmick. I'm not surprised by its current struggles. They need to get a few killer games out for it and the price down and things will pick up.

Controller is far from a gimmick, have you even used it?

I'm sure it will be fine in Japan, but in Western markets, I do think it is going to struggle, which is a shame for Nintendo.

I could buy one right now, but I just have no desire to. However I'd probably pick up a new Xbox when released in a flash. Perhaps further down the line with some good 1st party games I might buy a Wii-U, but for now, I'm just not seeing me making the purchase and I'm sure there are many who feel the same.

The new gamer from a wide range of generations that made the original Wii a success have had their fun and they aren't going to be able to recapture that.

What is it about the new PS/Xbox that makes you want to get them on release and not the Wii U?

It is the first time I can remember looking at a console on release and feel no urge to get it. There is literally nothing that interests me on it.

The lineup for the future is sparse but high quality.... oh who am i kidding, i'll get one just so i can play X.

I think Nintendo need to get out of hardware and concentrate on what they do best... Games. Nintendo has fallen behind when it comes to its consoles and online services and are trying to compensate lack of power with quirks that gamers are fast losing interest in.

True its handhelds usually do well but with the ever increasing smartphone and cheap games market I think this will also be a thing of the past.

I would love to play Mario Kart and F-zero on PC, Xbox and Playstation with better hardware and online support instead of buying a whole new console for a handful of Nintendo games.

The 3DS and Wii U are the first console/handheld I have no interest in buying and the Wii was the first console I have ever sold on. Nintendo have fallen in my eyes and spending a few hundred pounds for 2-3 decent exclusives just isnt worth it.

Once I saw the price for the system I felt it was going to be a struggle for Nintendo to shift it. They have a chance to do well in Japan but I don't see it selling well in the US or Europe, as I don't believe there is a market for it. It doesn't have the novelty of the Wii and it's too expensive for owners of an PS360 to buy for what is a step sideways with the added bonus of Nintendo exclusives.
Price of games is also a big issue. At Xmas I saw CoD for €70 on the Wii U and €55 on the PS360. Also ports of old games costing ~twice what it would on other consoles isn't a good starting point. ME3 for full price, ME trilogy on the PS360 for the same price... and EA will then wonder why it didn't sell. The Wii U was the perfect console for the trilogy as many potential buyers of a Wii U wouldn't have played the series.

I hope it does. I hope to see Nintendo become a handheld / software company. The only reason to buy a Nintendo console is their first party software, of which there is not enough for me to justify it. I just want to play a true next generation Zelda on an xbox.

Back in the day you had rareware and others, now its just not the same. Saddens me to say it.

If Nintendo just stick to what they do best then the Wii U cannot possibly fail.
I think they need to get the likes of Zelda and MarioKart out before the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft hit the shops.

Well I can't really say it.

But it's likely the next Sony and Microsoft systems will be more powerful and likely more so than the Wii-U. I like Xbox Live and its what my friends use, so I'm keen to carry on with that. It's also quite clear that Sony and Microsoft will have the 3rd party support along with 1st party.

I've said it before, but if the Wii-U had been an incredible machine which clearly offered an advantage for third party titles, or perhaps had paid through the roof for an exclusive on a third party title, I and many others would likely have bought it.
