What temperature should a house be?

according to a hypothermia monitor E-on gave to my dad the "safe" zone is between 18-21c.

that said it does depend on the person, some people feel the cold more than others.

I have no idea what temp our house is at because the thermostat has always lied. I have to keep it set to 25c or above for it to even come on. i.e. It massively over reads. It's probably somewhere around 20c.

Just checked the thermo, it's 16 degrees atm :)

I wear a onesie, and me Mum wraps up in a sleeping bag. It's healthier to generate your own heat, and you pay less bills :p

The highest we can get the temp in this house at the moment is 18c. That's with the heating on full blast all day .

The thermostat is situated in our hallway, which is usually around 12c or something ridiculous. So it doesn't matter what it's set to as it'll always be on full blast trying to reach the minimum temp on the thermostat, which is 15c lol.

Sorry smigly but following your complaints of being too cold I will have to revoke your permission to post in the north east people thread as you're clearly an imposter.

Buy a nVidia 480 and problem solved. ;)

When I had to two I had to open the windows ha ha

Op I think your mum and dad are being a bit tight. I know about few people on disability benefits for loads of different reasons and they get roughly 1200 a month each so with Lower rate bills and no rent or tax to pay they should have a few quid.

You never know they could be saving for when they both go?

I wish i had your problem mine was set to 24 when i moved back home after the divorce. I had the window in my room open constantly. Although i also had a couple of 580's to help keep me warm :)

Another one in the 17C-19C club here. Can't really stand it C21+. Two of the girls in my office won't have any of it until the temp reads 24C O.o So here's the 2 girls on the other side of the office with one of those portable radiators turned on plus the wall radiators, then me and the other girl with our windows open. Such a waste of ££.

At night, I can only sleep soundly if the temp is 10C or below. If it's August, where temps are often 15C-20C at night, then it's insomnia.

I aim for 18-19C or so at home, which is lucky as that is about what my heating system can achieve when maxed out (inefficiency of an old house & floor to ceiling windows for the win :P)

The office is a different matter. The girls and the oldies seem to love it when it is 24C+. I hate it, but am outnumbered :( It's more uncomfortable to work in in the winter than it is in July.

I like it around 17-18c max.

I run 17c day and night time temps (digital thermostat)

Mornings at 17 are not an issue.... hot porridge/ work out/ hot bath

18c evening temp (though I drop this back down to 17 if I start an open fire)

Certain parts of the house furthest away from thermostat can drop to 15-16c in extreme weather.

They'd love it here, my house mates are all too worried about the bill. So the heating was on for about 4 hours a day during the coldest bit of the winter.

Some complete and utter burk has even has even taken taken to switching the telly off at the plug.
