Samsung Galxy s2, Jelly Bean....

Flashed the Nordic version (XWLSD) via ODIN over the top of ICS last night, works great, very smooth with no issues so far :)

Noob question so be nice.

Is there a noob friendly fool prof guide to getting Odin onto my phone (ie my model number ect) and then installing the latest Jelly Bean update??

basically a good step by step guide.

Download the usb drivers for your phone here first.

When you have done that, turn the phone off, boot into download mode (volume down, home and power key at the same time), open Odin, plug in the usb cable and two (i think) boxes at the top should go yellow saying "COM 1" or something similar. When that has happened, just follow the instructions from the link i posted in post 23.

Thanks for the help
One question though, if I install this firmware then they release the official one later, can I just load up kies and install it? Or do I have to then uninstall everything.

You have to flash a standard ROM via odin again. Either the latest release (4.1.2 when it's eventually released) or 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich and then get kies to update that.

You have the same model of Galaxy S2 as I do OP.

The GT-I9100P which is the same as a GT-I9100, except it has NFC built into it!

I flashed the Nordic Version of Jelly Bean onto mine yesterday, I've lost the NFC capability. But I'll never use it anyway!

You have to flash the phone using Odin, which is risky if anything goes wrong.

But you'll be waiting a long long time for O2 to actually release their version of Jelly Bean for the NFC S2.

It took them ages to release Ice Cream Sandwich onto it!

If something goes wrong, cant you use KIES to do an emergency flash restore?

Hi, I'm thinking of doing this flash with odin i understand the flashing process ok but:

1) would it be ok on a locked three mobile s2

2)would i loose all my contacts & apps

jellybean does look good

You may need to unlock it for a different network but once rooted there is a app to unlock it dead easy.

Sync your contacts with Google when you flash the new ron they will just sync back with your phone and so should your apps

Anyone that has flashed the nordic version having trouble with wifi tethering? I'm on orange/ee network and it no longer lets me tether my ipod :(

1) It will remain locked to Three afterwards but it won't affect the update
2) No your contacts/apps will be fine*

*I very strongly recommend backing up everything though. You'd be a fool not to backup important things when doing a major OS update be that on Android or Windows or anything else!

Never heard that mentioned?

Is it not the apple products can't connect to Android. Only ever tried one I phone and it didn't work

I've had my mates iPod tether with my SGS2 a few times in the canteen at work. That was back when I had ICS, not tried it since moving to JB.

Wonder why the iPhone wouldn't connect never had a problem with anything on my phone. Tried 4-5 different phones computers laptops tabs on issues just the iPhone so good thought naturally it must be apple

Update thanks grrrrr for the conformation it worked fine.If anyone is thinking of updating there three mobile locked s2 to jellybean its well worth it makes the device a lot snappier
and just follow the instructions earlier in this thread and you dont loose you're contacts or apps either
