What temperature should a house be?

I remember when I thought I paid a fair share to live at home.

£80 a month is an absolute pittance to cover council tax, rent/mortgage, house upkeep if mortgaged, gas, water, electric, home insurance, use of appliances ..... The list goes on.

If you are that cold, buy a fleece blanket/decent quality jumper. Your parents may be too proud to admit how tight up they are currently infront of you and your partner.

Why not consider doubling your payments to them. It's still effectively 'a joke' what you are paying them but they might have the ability to pay a bit more on heating.

Depending on what the house is, £80 a month may well not pay their heating bills.

"Me man, go hunt sabre tooth honey badger on tundra, you wooman, go tend baby in cave, ugugugug"

:p

Crudely put, but that evolutionary pressure would have existed for most of the existence of humanity. Well, not the sabre tooth honey badger part :) That would be a scary animal. Probably more refined language too. But yeah, broadly speaking. If you're out in the open, you're better off retaining more use of your hands at the cost of a higher risk of hypothermia because you'll need to make shelter. If you already have shelter, you're better off being more resistant to hypothermia at the cost of a higher risk of frostbite. Pregnancy would probably also be relevant.

There is no greater evolutionary force than the sabre toothed honey badger, believe me. Chuck Norris only exists because this majestic creature does not ;)

Took the words out of my mouth.

If you can't afford to increase your payments then stop complaining and put up with it. Consider yourself lucky that you're paying £80 a month.

You could just carry on with the £80 per month like you are paying, and then add £50 a month to contribute to heating? (If, like you said they wont accept anymore money).

Set ours to 20 and its nice in the main room where the temp dial is but walk to bedroom and its not that warm!

Hate that.

20.

Tell your parents keeping the house that cold is bad and it will cause damp and lead to bigger bills than turning the heating up.

(May be factually wrong but it might convince them)

To clarify some points made:

My parents dont pay rent nor council tax as they are both disabled.
I am not complaining about what they can and can't afford. My mother puts the heating on whenever she wants and if I say I'm cold she normally says "well why didn't you put the heating on you div?" But I mean any other time during the day. I'll be freeeeezing and she'll be like "its not even cold". I'm beginning to think its physiological differences. But someone made a point about people not feeling the heat as much which is a good point :)

I guess everyone's different.

The best part of being cold though is puttin your icy hands on someone's lovely warm back :D

Also: the house does have damp in 2 walls.
