installed my 24/20 wheels.. a lot stiffer than my originals with 32/32 will give them a proper test tomorrow :) quite happy for the price i've paid... we'll see how long these last(dont expect much from them really) but the reviews are good.

Cool, which ones did you get?

I've just got a pair of these but I've not tried them out yet.

I'm guessing this one.

Yep, the Rake defeated me. I also failed to climb Belmont on the one occasion I've tried it, which was in a hideous headwind, and one of the hills round Angelzarke once forced me off the first time I went round it, because I rounded the bend in too high a gear and then couldn't change down. I've also come close on Moor Road, but have always pushed on.

Anyway... This has been an evening of repairs. Thanks for the guidance on the brake cable business. I've replaced the cable and now the brake works - hurrah. The old housing was full of crap, so mystery solved. I also had to take off all the bar tape as it was wound from centre to end rather than vice versa. I made a quick trip to halfords just before closing time and picked some tape up. I've only done one side for now, but I'll probably do the other side once I've picked up some electrical tape to do the ends. The bar tape wasn't as bad as I'd feared, though I was surprised at how short it was and had to unwind some and do it again. I've also had another go at indexing the gears and think I've sorted hem now.

So, I'll be out tomorrow night to make sure everything works!

Btw what pads for all around riding would you guys recommend? Im on my 3rd set and that is going to kaboom soon.. - non carbon rims.

Kool Stop Dura pads are good. Most people will recommend the Salmon ones, which are better in the wet, apparently, but I'm using the black ones as they are supposed to last a bit longer.

There's also Swissstop pads, which are meant to be good too. You get 4 of them in a pack, so you only need one pack rather than the two you need with most.

Hi I'm after a helmet camera after one to many close shaves!

What's the best bang for camera which produces viewable video but not costing the earth?

Don't want to spend massive money say £100 - £130

If you can chuck an extra 20-30 quid on that budget (or maybe not if you shop around) you can't go wrong with the Contour Roam. I've got one and I can't fault it.

I recorded this with it the other week (ignore the wiggly distortion thing like you're drunk, that's youtube's anti-shake processing) and it does the job nicely.

my front mudguard went kaboom this morning in the middle of the oxford street :o literally exploded not even sure what happened.. but i just took the bits off to be able to ride! so yeah crud road racers work until they explode?! interesting lol.

and i love my new wheels! i can't believe they are so much faster.

Could be a something skipped up between the wheel and the mudguard? A stone or something? If you were doing any sort of speed then it would lead to either the tyre or mudguard going bye bye.

All of sky finished really low down the first stage

I believe someone crashed and all of sky held back for them, wiggins finished almost last at +1min20something

On my last set the back one destroyed itself somehow in dramatic fashion.
