Well, those player attitudes are all just convenient labels for combinations of mental attributes [including some of the hidden ones], so it's entirely possible to mentor a youngster with an older Born Leader and increase the likelihood of him becoming a Leader/Born Leader himself :)

You live and learn! I guess it's like a traits system is it? I do tend to mentor, but primarily because those that accept are happier individuals. I didn't realise the traits can be passed down. Interesting stuff.

So. 2025/26 season and I've taken Stockport from League Two into the Premiership and survived my first season, finishing 14th I think.

Second season in the EPL is tough. I always feel the need to properly rebuild the whole squad, so I auctioned off a couple of players... and HOLY ****!

This guy hit 41 goals in 39 goals in the Championship, but spent last season mostly injured and managed 6 goals in 15 games. Offered him around and got £14.75m for him!? I signed him for £625k two seasons before:

This next guy was the crowning jewel of my team... on paper, whereas last season he managed 7 assists and a couple of goals from an attacking winger. He was worth £5m, and I'd turned down a couple of bids around £15m from Arsenal and Chelsea, so I auctioned him out at £30m - just to see what the highest bid I could get. Low and behold West Ham, of all clubs, put in a £30m bid for him, despite the fact that they'd just got relegated!

So I'm sat here at the beginning of my second season in the Premiership. I've dropped £6.75m on a very decent CB and taken a long shot on an AMC whom looks OK but I've got a feeling will do very well (I signed him as a youth player for Brentford 4 years ago before I quit). Just picked him up for £8m... despite the fact he's never played a first team game!!

The quality of some of the regens in may save, particularly strikers, is outrageous. The striker above that I sold would only be "decent"

Strangely the England winger and midfield regens are rubbish. The national team is playing two CFs as a LW and a CM, simply because they can play in those positions as secondary roles. Both those strikers playing out of position have 20/20 for finishing, composure and off the ball:eek:

I just dropped £19m on a goalkeeper who was worth £1.3!

Wow! I'd sell them both for that sort of money. Amazed West Ham can pay that wage in the champ too

Not only the fee, they also paid out £115k in wages!! Outrageous

You know you've played the save for too long when the games regens have had long and successful careers and are now embarking on careers as staff :( haha

@simisker

Well a big thanks to you, 3 games in and there has been massive progress. I lost the first game 2-1 but straight away I could see a big difference and we were really unlucky. But I've won the next two and they were against 4th and 1st placed teams :D

Let's hope it continues.

It's not only personality/mental improvements - mentoring [when it works] is also a great way of building up a "web" of Favoured Teammates amongst squad members. A team of eleven players who expressly like each other [which is accelerated by mentoring] play better week in, week out than a team who haven't built up those relationships.

If you've ever wondered why the 'B' team of fringe players and youngsters that you fielded inexplicably loses to minnows in the Cup despite having a huge attribute advantage, this is why - they're less likely to have built up this relationship web, so don't play as well as your established 'A' team. The minnows, on the other hand, will have fielded *their* established 'A' team, which has a stronger relationship web.

Seriously? That is an element of the game... players relationships with each other and it affects a 'B' team as you mentioned....

Another piece of garbage in the game, exactly why I don't pay attention to that pap side of things. Just because a few players are best mates shouldn't mean they have an advantage on the pitch, especially over attributes. Might as well sign up a few lads from a 5 a side pub league... yeah we all get wrecked together on a Saturday night... but no worries, Ronaldo isn't that friendly with Benezema, so we can mark them out of the game! Who needs pace when we have our friendship rings.

Not a pop at you btw, just cannot believe how over the top FM as become in trying and miserably failing to replicate a personality side to the game... just like the team talks, the press conferences and players chats... ie Im unhappy.... OK tell me a signing who would make you happy? ... Can you buy this 16 year old Slovakian kid who has never played a game before, cant speak English and has no relationship to me... but still, you sign him and ill sign a contract for 1k per week and refuse Barcelona's advances.

During the 2008/2009 season Man City spent just shy of £130m. They subsequently finished 10th. Anyone watching could easily tell they were a team of individuals with no bond whatsoever. You could largely say that about pre-Redknapp QPR. I'd say it's a massive aspect of the game in real life. Clubs invest heavily in team bonding, hence foreign pre-seasons and mid-season trips abroad.

Having a core of players whom get on well with each other and have done so for years has proved largely successful. Manchester United during the 90's, Chelsea when they started winning things, Arsenal when they led the way, etc.

I think FM needs to go one step further and introduce in-game cocaine-fueled orgies, which the players film on their mobile phones and are encouraged to distribute to team mates. This would surely increase team morale...

^^ Would pay loads for a coke and hooker filled mini game with the regen kids faces going  at 17 on the team bonding exercise, could even have a clay pigeon shooting mini game...

Haha! I love it when regen players become staff, much better than over the top regen managers come to the show (and be really unreasonable in the transfer market). At least the game have west hams management sorted 115k a week is a semsible champ wage :D

Imagine having a press conference when you have the chance to respond "passionately" about your left back missing training due to being caught in the loos in a gay club doing coke off the toilet seat! I suppose you could get them to mentor the juniors - create a team full of delinquent hooker-addicts.

In my current save I have four excellent strikers - 3 wonderkids and 1 whom was a wonderkid until he turned 21 last year - yet I'm playing 1 up front. Having awesome players can be such a burden sometimes! :D

Hahaha! :D I would like them to expand on the kid been seen late night in bars thing, so you can start by condoning the behaviour but passionately being impressed with the legs on woman he was with, or be angry at how unprofessional he has been going to such a down market gay club and explain to the press how more mature team mates should show him the classy side of the gay scene...

 I have yet to find a proper wonderkid yet this time round :(

These are either current wonderkids or have recently hit 21 after being wonderkids:

It's so sad that I'm actually proud of all this... Think it's time to start thinking about getting a job! :(

lol.. Brilliant regens. I have one wonderkid whom I regularly field in my 2018 season. He's valued at £10.25 million at the moment and is 20 years old. I've sent one Brazilian youngster defender off to Croatia to gain a permit so he's off for two years but I hope to see some good things from him. And I've got one British striker who is quite good, aged 20 whom is worth nearly £2 million. I can't afford anything else :D This game really is about building and developing regens for future seasons. It's quite clever like that.

Questions about scouting.

So my scout hasn't found a single player to recommend to me yet... It's now February!
I'm obviously not setting the assignment right, I've tried a few things but I was getting so fed up of him 'having nothing to report' that I set the last one to have no criteria, but he still can't find any players. TBH, I think he's lying on a beach in Marbella :p

Any tips?
(I'm Harrogate Town in BSBN btw)

Just finished my first season with rangers on FMC, think i prefer that mode, all the press conferences and team talks gets boring after a while as its generally just the same team talk i throw out each time depending if i won / lost / drew :9

Team of the year for first season in scottish 3rd division :

...yes ok im Rangers and that is probably not difficult, but made me smile :p
