How the hell do you get water out of your ears after swimming?! It happens to me every time but when I wake up in the morning it's always gone.

Today, however, it remains, and is incredibly irritating.

I've tried all the usual rubbish like shaking my head around, hitting my head with my hand, pushing my hands over my ears to release the pressure.

Please help!

I get this, for me I found if I hold my nose and try to inhale/exhale (not too hard) through my nose that sometimes moves things. Alternatively suck on a polo or travel sweet, that can sometimes do it.

Blowing your nose can help as it's all part of your tubes.

You have my sympathy as it is damn annoying. Other times I just dunk my head in the bath and try and get more in there with the hope that it drains out more easily (risk making it worse though).

See your doctor if it carries on as syringing may be required - you could also find out about getting some ear plugs for when you do go swimming.

Feeling that warm trickle out of your ear after hours of having it blocked has to be one of the greatest experiences ever.

Great, thanks for all that. I think ear plugs may be the solution but I've not got round to buying any yet.

I shall try dunking my head in the bath later, this actually works for me too. Perhaps I'll get some polos also.

There is no problem in life that cannot be solved with a Henry hoover.

No doubt, but do I want to put one to my ear? Probably not.

I normally get a piece of tissue, twist it into a long thin shape, and poke it in. Soaks up all the water, problem solved!

You got wax in your ear OP and the water now won't come out. I had the same thing when I went on holiday which nearly ruined it for me. When I came back I went to see the doctors and had one of my ears syringed, but she wouldn't do the other as she said it wasn't 'that bad' and I agreed before she did it. But afterwards, because one ear was now super clear the other felt 'blocked'. Luckily I have a syringe at home so VERY CAREFULLY I loaded it with warm water, and shot it into my ear. The gunk that came out was shocking but also refreshing!

2 ways of doing it, you can unblock it from the other ear by inserting a long kebab skewer.

Or, pour salt in the ear. Everyone knows that salt absorbs water.

Don't forget you can also use mustard or a silica gel / other desiccant of your choice.
