This Strava challenge is going to be a cold one! Couldn't rope anyone mad enough in to join me sadly :(

I can work from home so seriously thinking about making an early start tomo (5-6am) and trying to get back for lunch lol. Think I would prefer to suffer early than be out all day in these temps & weekend is looking just as cold/colder atm.

Argh, the exchange rate is totally screwing things up for me trying to decide on a new bike for spring/summer

Thought I'd settled on a canyon cf slx 8.0ES, but now it's £3300 and given the lead times it's making it hard to justify

I've spec'd up a ribble RS872/Stealth with the same components minus the seat post and its coming in at £2800. I could just stick with the cheap wheels and swap with the campag neutrons I already have which will bring that down to around 2400, which is much easier to justify right now.

Is the canyon worth the extra £800? I realise the frame/seat post will be better, but I'm hardly going to notice am I?

Spotted an absolutely brilliant product today, not sure if it's of use to anyone else but thought I would draw attention to it. There are now loads of cool aftermarket mounts for your Garmin 200/500/800 that place it out in front of your handlebars. I was seriously considering selling my 705 and getting an 800 because having it on my stem makes it tricky to read.

I discovered that Racewaredirect now make a converter that pushfits into the back of your old style 205/405/705 to convert it into the new style twist mount. This allows you to use an older Garmin with the new style mount and all the aftermarket options that are available. Such a simple idea but absolutely genius- and the sort of thing that Garmin themselves would never produce.

Garmin have their own mount as well:-http://www.wiggle.co.uk/garmin-out-front-bike-mount/

I was actually thinking of getting one today (was looking last year as well but it wasnt out, never appeared in Dec when it supposed too).

Ooh, that's pretty sexy... Even lighter than the canyon! Will have a play around with the config tonight

Living near Ribble (couple of miles away) i will probably go with a Ribble if given the choice although the Canyon are nice, i think i prefer them to the Rose but they are all nice....not a bad choice whatever you take.

Get the SRAM one if you don't mind waiting for postage, it's only £15 on the auction site. The K Edge one is arguably the best looking and I like that it places the computer flush with your stem rather than above it but it's £35 and apparently, being metal, it takes chunks out of your computer when you twist it in.

The K-Edge hasn't taken any chunks out of my Garmin yet, but I would agree the SRAM one is far better value. If it was out at the time I would have got that instead and helicopter taped over the SRAM logo!

Well for the non-masochists! :p

I'm paying a visit to Pearson Cycles on Sat to order my new commuter steed. I gave up on the build it myself idea. It would cost more overall and I'm faaaar to lazy!:D
