I've got one of these.

158

I've had it about 3-4 years, since I bought it to replace the earlier version of it I lost when I got hit by a car. I'd had that one for quite a few years too. The one I've got now is a bit mangled from standing on it to loosen crank bolts (bent outer housing because I'm a chunky sod) and the tyre lever's a bit bent from overuse (Marathon Plus are tight as ****) but it's still going strong and if it ever dies I'll just get another.

Just bought a very manly bike on the bay:

80s-raleigh-panache-girls-racing-bike

Hoping to turn it into a runabout for my mum, budgeting £70 overall.

Mixte frame - interesting. Be sure to get some feedback from her on how she finds the ride in comparison to a standard ladies frame and a regular diamond shaped frame.

Steal is real :D

My old mountain bike is steel and it's so heavy and slow... I do want to get a decent steel road/CX bike at some point in the future, just to say I've got one.

In other news, I finished reading Cav's book "Boy Racer" this morning. It's OK, decent mix of autobiography interspersed with accounts of his races in 2008 and 2009. He does come across as a bit of a tool at times, and it's interesting how he spends the book going on about his beloved Melissa and about how he loves Columbia and doesn't want to move to Sky and isn't driven by money or whatever. Then you get to the epilogue and he's dumped Melissa, bought an R8, and not long after he went to... Sky.

To be fair to Cav, people change and HTC folded.

going to riding my first 50 miles ride on sunday , a reliability ride with the club, so no idea how thats gonna go (my first sportive if u like)

Whats a good meal to have the night before?
im thinking pasta with rice ?

new chain on, while fitting it I realised that my mech was so out of wack that it wasn't using the smallest cog!!

My Alan's finally almost back on the road, I need to take it to ryan of oak cycles framebuilding to have the seat tube reemed as the frame was only designed to take 10cm of seatpost inside the seat tube but modern frames take a lot more, so once thats one a matching seatpost to the stem will go in.

The front rim is really quite worn now, its seen over 1000 with me and god knows how many before i bought it so wheels will be the next thing, probably some chinese 38mm clinchers

Right, looks like I'm settled on the ribble R872. 3 different options:
Shimano Di2 Ultegra Compact 11-25
Standard Deda RHM Bars
Deda Zero Stem
CSN Alloy Seatpillar
Yaw Nitro Tyres
Selle Italia X1 Saddle
£2050

With this option, I could buy a new seatpillar and saddle and stick with the GP4000s tyres on my campag neutrons, using the standard Rodi wheels as a backup option on my current bike

Shimano Di2 Ultegra Compact 11-25
Ritchey WCS Bars
Ritchey WCS Stem
Ritchey WCS Seatpillar
Conti GP4000S tyres
Selle Italia X1 Saddle
£2300

As above with Dura Ace (not Di2)
£2550

But with dura ace I then have an issue as my existing campag neutron hubs won't fit an 11 speed casette, so I'd want some decent wheels, bringing it up towards £2900, but at least I'd then have 2 decent wheelsets, although I could only swap them one way!

What does everyone think? Guess the real question is dura ace mech vs di2

Hah - I'm used to shimano (105 on my other bike) so figured I should stick with it

because only ever trying something you've had before it the way to go....
I mean, if you've had cod you'd never want salmon and if you've had beef you'd never want to try horse.......

Make sure it's brown pasta and or rice.

does that really matter?
