Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23 - 25th February 2013]

Also, why doesnt wenger drop diaby for Ox and walcott for podolski?

Because both Diaby and Walcott are his favourites;) and he wont drop them as long as they are fit and able to play. No matter how utterly useless and rubbish they both are.

im tired. dunno if i can watch a stream of the game. starts in 20mins innit: nearly 11pm here, had a long day. i see if i can find a good link and then see if arsenal can keep me wide awake

Because it's Wenger, this should be, bottom 8 teams, a chance to give Gnabry(if he was actually any good) Eisfeld, Coquelin a chance to show something and some experience. Instead its another start for a useless pratt who we already know isn't good enough, offers nothing to the team and won't ever be the difference.

I cringe at the number of games some players get, while others are frozen out for no reason and then leave. Vela scored yet another goal last night, and he was rested and came on later, on for 10 mins and got a goal, he's so good they are protecting him in a bid for a team in a lower division not long ago going for a european spot. We forced Vela out, a guy who is always fit, rarely injured and very good, so we could keep the likes of Diaby :(

To be honest, this is a game I'd play Eisfeld, Jenks and Coquelin, not just because they are young and deserve a chance, but because they are better than Diaby, Sagna and Walcott anyway.

Ox, I think we need to play around with his position, he's not been effective lately, maybe try him in a more Wilshire role, central mid but energy and pace to close people down, and that same pace/driving force forwards to get the ball from midfield to the attack. He's not really working on the wing, and finishing so far doesn't really suggest we should try him upfront. Maybe he'd be a top winger with some proper direction, Ox is one of the few to have had quite a few chances and hasn't really delivered on potential yet.

That makes me really really sad :(

When we had him he was an outstanding winger, full of pace, energy and ideas how Wenger has trained all of that out of him makes me really sad he left for England caps immediately when waiting could have improved his game a lot more.

Also first time in ages watching football focus, I now really want to punch Garth Crooks, why is this idiot allowed on TV??? Just angry and utterly utterly moronic!

Well there is more and more suggestions which really make a lot of sense when you watch Arsenal, that Wenger gives little to no direct instruction to players... so we've got 3-4 players who have great instincts and do the right things, know about players and how to play against them. You had guys like Cesc, and now Wilshire who just get almost everything right, but you have guys like Walcott, Ox more and more, Sagna, Gibbs, who don't seem to have a clue what to do. Maybe Walcott being told what to do and when to do it would turn into a great player, I really don't know... there is some degree of, too long being taught the wrong thing and its kind of too late to turn it back around.. who knows.

But that really does ring true with Arsenal, there are multiple players who were better before joining Arsenal and one of the biggest issues is Walcott, Gervinho, Sagna, Gibbs, don't seem to ever know where they should be or what their end goal is, they run around like headless chickens most of the time. Our Fullbacks positioning is simply ridiculous, every other team fullbacks attack but then they get the hell back, ours just kinda jog back to midfield, then see what happens and they are always reacting to runs and chasing back rather than getting back first, and being ahead of an attack. It certainly feels like no one has drilled "get back first" into them.

Santi Carzolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa makes it 1-0 to Arsenal.

Now to see if we can defend a 1 goal lead and score some more :p
