***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

Here's two littles funnies for you.
One of Havant and Waterlooville's starting players just left; Atiku.

He's a veteran of Havant, so he's literally probably only ever really been BSS.

Anyway, when I was looking for an assistant manager, I've just seen him, he has INCREDIBLE stats. He wanted far too much money.

Then I saw a shocker ; Thierry Henry. Not only did Thierry want 5 times less (Lol) his stats weren't quite anywhere near the same level.

EDIT 2 : Just had an epic game changing defender be rejected a flipping work permit. Devastated.
I need to work on the squad to stop them getting relegated, always trying to get rid of the players who can't compete at this level anymore.

Gutted. Have spent hours in pre-season scouring the market for a striker. Managed to find 1 on a free that is highly rated for the BSP and with good potential if we get promoted.

So turned to the loan market for another and bagged a league 1 rated striker for a season long loan. Was looking good too, banged in 4 goals in one match.... picks up an injury in the next and is out for 2 months :(

Was just playing Bournemouth in League 1, I was winning 3-2, they equalised in the last minute.

And that was with 10 men for most of the game.

Only to play them 3 days later in a cup game and beat them lol :p

There's only a couple of points between like the bottom end of the table and the top 5 after about 11 games played.
I was 4th, then 10th after that draw :(

Although, first season in League 1, I do not want to get promoted! So glad in a way :p

I stuck this on my macbook and the last 3 days have been a whirlwind. First season with St Mirren, won the league cup (hopefully a good open as we are in the final next month for real), finished 4th in the league and quarter finals of the league cup.

Ive been totally sucked in like I havent for years, probably since CM3 days, Ive been thinking about my team, the young guys coming through, obsessed, brilliant!

Good! :p

It's what macbooks are for...

are you having any trouble with memory usage?

every few days i get a message saying insufficient memory to allocate and i have to restart.

i upgraded to 8gb specifically for this!

Have you tried verifying the game cache and your hard drive permissions?

I have been running it on mac without any real problems, though it does slow down like something stupidly slow around the transfer windows.

2nd season with rangers done, unbeaten all season but did rubbish in the cup, pulled celtic early on and got hammered 4-0

Got top goalscorer by an absolute mile with a 19 year old generated player, he is awesome.

Think the next season in SD1 might prove a bit harder...2 of my very good CD 6months from their contracts ending, just said they do not wish to talk contracts, so they are on their way out, and my 3rd striker has retired after having 2 very good seasons. Also one of the CD you have away on loan as you start, who is on like £14k a week is wanting more, so he will be on his travels as well.

Looking into changing my formation a bit, as in the cup against SD1 and SP teams i was leaking goals left right and centre.

Going to go for a 4-2-3-1 i think with 2 DMs, but that means i am on the lookout for at least 1 decent DM ( i have a midfielder that can cover the other quite well ) and pull my attacking midfielders to just midfielders. And then im losing 3 CDs so need possibly at least 2 to cover those.

Not exactly got much of a transfer budget still though, but after the 14k a week CD leaves that should make things a bit easier.

Just trawling through trying to find some decent 19/20 year old to fill in the gaps i have at the minute, but not having much luck :(

Got relegated.
Funnily enough my board have now given me a wage budget the highest it's ever been at standard and a transfer budget of 600k (As opposed the previous 50k)

Been trying a new formation. This FM I've been a big fan of the 4-2-3-1 formation - you end up having the possibility of having your four attacking players getting into double figures, the formation also gives you depth in the midfield too if you play those 2 as DMs.

I've decided to develop a formation around the strength of my players, as opposed to try to fit the players into a system. Based on me having average wingers but two excellent attacking midfielders I've gone for this:

I thought I'd be overpowered in the midfield, but 7 games into the season and I'm sat in second with Stockport in the EPL. I finished 8th last season and 13th in my first season in the Premiership. My wage budget is still in the lowest five in the division, but with a beast up front and two excellent playmakers sat behind him, I've score 19 and conceded 5 in my opening 7 games!

I might have to give this one a go, just signed some 19 year olds who could end up being brilliant, but dont really have anywhere to play them in my current formation, just signed for on a free with under £1k wages to loan out really for the time being, but in that formation i could rotate them with some of my seniors...few games into my 3rd season as rangers and although ive still won the first 5 games, ive stuggled in the cup, both matches going to penalties up to now

It's going alright actually, although jusrt lost my first game of the season to Arsenal. Playing a short passing, creative game, but with my back four being very defensive and static. Also, the forward to AMs are set to swap position with each other.

Hmm only thing is my wingers are best played in an AMR / AML role so this would really leave the midfield with no one in it haha, need to just keep messing around i think, the first 2 seasons were a breeze but my wins are getting less and less spectacular, havent had a 9-0 win for a while :p

My ass man keeps telling me "we're restricting them to long shots but they are having lots of them". Any tips for limiting long shots?

Edit: Oh and I really need to pay more attention to stamina.... the star CB I got on a free last season has a stamina of 5! He needs resting every other game ffs!

Started doing well with Seongnam. Distance to 1st place is 7 points, with 8 games left. One of them is against Seol (who are 1st).

I managed to beat Al-Hilal in the Champions League. I lost the 1st leg away, 1-0. The goal was a penalty, and it was their only shot on target. Smashed them 3-0 in the return leg. Now I play Okayama FC from Japan. I beat them 2-1 in the 1st leg (home), and I went to quit the game.

Got the 'do you want to quit' message, without the save, so I quit without saving :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Need to win again (and Seol need to lose, or else the distance between us remains 10 points)

Got a huge injury crisis. Half my midfield is injured, my keeper is injured, and my reserve keeper is on international duty. Playing a generated keeper, as I have no alternative!

**** SAKE, FEW MINUTES IN AND I'M 1-0 DOWN FFS!

EDIT: Won 3-1, but Seol won 4-1. They lost 5-1 in the last game :O 10 points difference now :(

Got into the Champions League final, winning 3-0 in the 2nd leg. Final is in the worst possible day.

Seol (1st)
Champions league Final
Chunnam Dragons (3rd)

EDIT: Lost the next league game. Abandoning league, resting all my best players till the final.

And I've been sacked!! Doh!!

Started my season as Crawley Town and after found myself moving between 13th & 14th position as we came back after the Christmas break. I sealed a place in the JPT final after beating Brentford 1-0 at home and then 3-1 away so I was chuffed with that. The final was to be played against Carlisle in the first week of April but I was sacked after a 3-1 defeat to Hartlepool in the last week of March.

Crawley went on to be smashed 4-1 in the final even after Carlisle has a man dismissed after just 4 minutes of play.

So now I seek employment. Might move into Europe or even South America. My options are likely to be limited though.

edit - Carlisle also find themselves relegated down to L2. Good!

I won the final of the Asian Champions League. Wanted to leave, but I could have played the Club World Championship, so I did.

The Korean government took 3 of my best player...FOR MILITARY DUTY!!! WTF!!

Decided I wouldn't take it seriously and I lost 6-3 lol. They had 2 pens too.

Look who offered me a job :D:D

I declined though

Won the BSP by quite some distance.... however ticked off a little with the following.

1. Somehow none of my players were in the shortlist for players of the year
2. I still haven't won manager of the year, last year we were predicted for relegation, I came 2nd and won the FA Trophy. This year I win the league easily, score moe goals, win more games blah blah, I still lost by a mile :(
3. My board were.... satisfied with my performance WTF!

Not feeling loved... Waiting for Alex McLeish to get the sack from Boro :p

Promoted to the PL with Palace again. Managed 2 seasons before relegation in the previous season. The money earned really helped to boost the club off the pitch, good staff, good facilities, and some really promising young players.

I have 2 regen defenders who have formed a great partnership, they both got over 7.75 average ratings through the season. A great regen keeper, and possibly one of the best regen strikers too!

Just got to fill the team out with a little bit of better quality throughout and then should be able to finish mid-table. After that, should be pushing for Europe and also get a nice stadium expansion.

Selhurst is also listed as being in good condition now, which for anyone who has seen the seats in one of the stands recently can understand that this is a HUGE improvement.
