Dell U2713HM vs Asus PB278Q

I would get it replaced by Dell then you should get one from a different batch.

Dell say I have to do it through them, because amazon is technically the warranty holder unless I transferred it into my name. Amazon CS is much better with Dell so it isn't worth loosing that for a maybe better batch. They send out advanced replacement by next day, which can't falter them for.

I have two Dells running side by side, and no had any issues with them at all. Both are calibrated and are excellent, an improvement on my older Dell 2709W.

One thing which may be of interest is that the Asus uses PWM backlight dimming whereas the Dell doesnt....

This means if you are sensitive to flickering or headaches then the Dell might be a better choice... However you might not even notice it because it is subtle.

Thankyou both for your responses.

I gotta be honest I'm at a bit of a standstill now. Cannot make up my mind on whether I want two monitors, three monitors, different sized/the same size. It's driving me insane!!!

It's not great if you are still having problems, especially for the money. I have also heard about the PWM lighting which is a plus I guess for the Dell?

Thanks :)

The lighting is why I wouldn't go for the ASUS. When the DELL work it's great, i'd wait till the second batch till they iron out these terrible like QA issues.

I posted some more image retention pictures in the main u2713hm thread if you wanna see.

I read the review on the DELL on TFTcentral and it looks like a very nice monitor tbh.... I would get one of those personally. Also it does not have the excessive AG coating that the older ones had...

The DELL Studio 27" looks pretty decent as well if you want a cheaper one... Also i foyu are gaming then the input lag on the Dell 2713 is a bit poor tbh.

Thanks for the response again.

I have no idea now what to go for. Trying to look into more reviews etc on alternatives. I see what you are saying about the U2713HM.

A good alternative if you are willing to take the risk is a Korean Crossover IPS 2560x1440

They are the same IPS panels as the Dell, apple etc.

Just they may have a few dead pixels or backlight bleed... It is a bit of a gamble, but they are very cheap.

Maybe I will go with 3xU2412M's. It's either that or 1xU2713HM and 2xU2412M as far as I can decide now.

I keep changing so much, but I think I might take the risk on the U2713HM.

Thanks :)
