Blimey FF, that's expensive.

I bought some KTC coconut oil. 250ml, £1.
[The oil you have stated in your link - including delivery is just under £7/250ml]
KTC oil tastes rancid and certainly isn't to be eaten as is.
It is certainly not delicious.
Drizzled over hot vegetables - its fine.

I'll try out the biona coconut oil as that seems to get good reviews. I shall report back later. I want to know if the el cheapo KTC oil is any worse than the expensive stuff.

I did buy some thick and creamy coconut milk. This stuff was thick and hard at low temperature (like coconut oil), though I'm not sure if my supermarket sells it any more. Other brands of coconut milk are thin and lower quality. This was delicious and good enough to be eaten "neat".

I bath in the KTC, and eat the biona :p As far as I can tell, the KTC product is not aggressively extracted, but I just don't trust it's cheapness to be a quality fit for consumption product. Also, it's labeled as 'pure', not 'virgin' and while claims of 'extra virgin' is a hangover from the olive oil industry and irrelevant in terms of coconuts, the virgin aspect is a genuine claim.

Good for you. I prefer quality. You money, your call.

If it tastes ****, then it's probably ****.

Each to their own.

CC oil in coffee! Why didn't I think of that. Will be doing that when I have it next. The MyProtein stuff is okay to eat as-is, but I'll try some of the other stuff out. It lasts ages so I don't mind paying a bit more.

My KTC CC oil tastes nicer then the myprotein stuff. A nice, much richer coconut flavour. Taste is very subjective, as you can see here, i think its nice, sunama thinks its rancid, you cant assume poor quality based on one persons taste opinion, just because its cheap. To many people assume they are not being overcharged for quality!

This is akin to the ON protein congregation preaching that it is much much better, when actually you pretty much are paying for the taste, and for things like coconut oil its the same. Is the taste of something added to coffee (for me) worth a price difference of 700%? nope (KTC £1/250ml, bionca £7/250ml)

Gonna order me some of this OAKG stuff, as the small bags appear to be on offer. Either that or 500g prices are screwed up

Whats the recommended dosage, not MPs recommended dosage

170mg per kg bw. I'm taking 14g before bed.
The 250g bags are 50% off so normally £17, the 500g are the normal price (motherofgod.jpg).

170mg per kg of bodyweight.

I weigh 94kg (what abz?), therefore am dosing at 16g. I take this before bed in one go and not pre-workout.

I do not use it as a pump product or something to benefit my workouts: it's recovery only for me.

So talk to me bros, how does this OAKG? How's it aiding recovery?

Increased IGF-1 levels or increased test? Whats the deal?

Per the two studies I've found, it 'significantly' increases the release growth hormone and IGF around 90 minutes after consumption when taken at 170mg/kg BW in one go. I can't find other work on OAKG impact on anything that this community may be interested in, or whether MOAR OAKG per dose will do anything different...

Now, I don't know what qualifies as 'significant' in the study, but based on the reported criteria, it's probably around 20% over what the peeps expected (i,e. standard release for other EAAs).

This is different to arginine and citrulline (other EAAs in the urea cycle), which is why ornithine is probably more expensive. That, and the pimping that it will "aid lean tissue growth/whatever" that myprotein claim.

As far as I'm concerned, the levels of GH/IGF-1 are not really big enough to make a difference to lifts, but are enough to significantly reduce DOMS the day after a workout. This has been born out by my personal experience, together with LiE and Syla5. That doesn't mean I can quantify it or anything, but I don't think I'll enjoy the time when it goes back up in price...

increased GH levels apparently.

I am getting some posative side effects in that it is helping my hands recover from some seriously dry/flakey skin issues i have had due to the cold/warm/cold weather we are getting. I think OAKG is used in burns treatment so this could be why its having this effect :D
