Electricity - Yearly Spend?

Our electricity is ~£50 a month
Gas ~£40 a month

Showers are heated by the gas, so is the heating. Cooking is all electric. Plus, at least one pc on 24/7. Sometimes 3 on.

Rarely use the heating though, only for a few hours max in the evening. My PC keeps my office warm enough.

Might wanna check the temps mate, must be high if they are keeping your office warm :p

3 bed, 2 adults 4 children, electricity is £60 (15 ish KWH a day) a month and gas is £40

Whats with all the hate on storage heaters? If you don't have central heating then storage heaters are your beat bet and there a lot more efficient the electric convection heaters.

I'm not going to moan about electric and gas costs again as we use a lot less than I though based on some of these prices. Some people here pay more for 2 months than we par per year .

Then again we use energy saving bulbs and only usually have 1 pc and one tv on during the day. At night everything goes off apart from fridge and freezer. We have also started turning the boiler off at night as it's a really old one with a pilot light and that was wasting gas.

My PC is mostly idle and uses 2p an hour according to the little gizmo they give you with the digital meter.

Just to clarify the current rate of FITs payable to under 4kw PV systems eligible for the original rate is 45.4p plus 1.6p (50% of the 3.2p export tariff, you're deemed to export 50% of production) so 47p in total from 01/04/12 to 31/03/13
From 1st April 2013 the combined total payable rises to 46.81p per kWh with 3.3p for export (so 50% = 1.65p for each kw) total payable 48.46p
Not quite at the 50p mark yet Spit

Ah, cheers for that, I wondered why my calculations were always slightly off :)

I'm curious...how do you use that much? Do you have a mansion or a power-hungry business?

I have a standard terraced house with 2 large bedrooms and 4 other rooms and I use about £70 a month in gas and about £30 a month in electricity, and I'm pretty careless about my gas use because I use radiators for drying clothes.

British Gas increased my monthly electric payments from £190 in December to £230, then this month increase to £363. After complaining and not been happy with the explanation i contacted the Ombudsman. They helped me craft a complaint letter to the head guy. He rang me this morning to inform me that my usage had increased 8.4 units a day and my consumption was 22,200 units a year which is 7x the average annual household average of 3,300 units. So im just very power hungry.

For a comparison to you 17 rooms and 14 double radiators.

Make sure you check that the elec company has the peak and off peak rate the right way round. Mine was wrong (sit in front of the meter during off peak hours and the off peak meter shouldn't move)

My bill halved after they changed it, plus I got back all the incorrect bills

1 bed flat with 2 storage heaters and panel heater in bedroom, no gas. 214 quid from November to March. At work all day so my actual day bill was 65 quid for the period lol.I do tend to do all of the stuff like laundry/dryer cook etc. after 10 which is the beginning of the night rate.
