80 mile a day commuting car for £2-3k?

The 150 seems more documented for chocolate cam. My 115 definitely exhibits symptoms of it though. I've got my old laptop on charge to check a few things when I get to work tomorrow.

Looking on eurocarparts the parts aren't too expensive. I think you'd be better off getting a reasonably economical petrol car.

in terms of best bang for buck you can't do better than a 1.9 tdi 130bhp.
They are quite solid, and available in all kinds of cars.
A Ibiza sport doesn't weigh that much and with the 1.9 tdi /130 provides a very cheap runabout that will return silly mpg and although dynamically not a hot hatch, it will offer some reasonable in gear punch even when remapped.

No depreciation, regardless of miles.
No rust
Unrivaled fuel efficiency
Honda reliability

Plus, you own one of the rarest cars on the road.

Sometimes, it doesn't matter how ugly a car is. Function > form.

True but I have my limits. I'd actually cry if that was parked on my drive!

No thanks, after owning three EP3 Type R's I couldn't drive the 'normal' version.

Very interested in this thread's outcome as I could well be doing an 80 mile round trip next year.

Options for me would include;
1. Just put the miles on the S2000
2. Sell the S2000 and buy something sensible
3. Keep S2000 for fun and buy a motorway hack.

Top of my list was a mk2 focus, but a VW/Skoda diesel wouldn't be a bad option thinking about it. Does anything at this price range have Bluetooth?

This is a thread to watch too. As i have the same problem and have been looking at the Golfs.

Just drive around in it. It'll basically never cease to move, and anything that breaks you wouldn't have on a Focus or Golf anyway.
