Gove's School Bullies

This happened to me. For the first couple of schools I went to (parents moved around a lot, ended up 15 in the end :p) where this happened, I tried the teacher route, who were ******** for the most part.

Then I kicked the **** out of them after that. Strange how teachers moaned that you shouldn't do that, and how I should go through normal channels etc. Not a backbone amongst them.

Thankfully I shot up like a beanpole to nearly 6'3 so it sorta stopped after that. :p

I don't believe that violence is the way forward, and I feel that bullying is a terrible experience that filters through to different aspects of life, and sets or breaks some people for life.

Bullying in schools should be dealt with extremely harshly.

edit: I understand the issue of what do you do with bullies, you don't want them to end up dropping out of education, but there needs to be a punitive aspect, which involves families etc.

haha. my dad always taught me how to deal with bullies. give em a good few punches. most will back down.

i will be telling my son the same thing. teachers never seem to do anything about bullying. some of them are bullies themselves.

It really is awful what is going on in UK education now, Gove is an utterly vile little man. Having said that, we know the Tories are the nasty party so we should expect them to do things like this - why aren't the opposition holding the government to account on education?

because the opposition are equally crap, which is made ever more apparant by their inabillity to challenge the government. SO if they can't even challenge, god only knows how they would govern.

i equate voting in england to choosing which members of a firing squad you want to shoot you. whatever you do you are knackered.

time for a big shakeup in this country IMO. red and blue have shown they cant be trusted to run anything. yellow seem almost as bad.

who else do we have?

ukip? lol
bnp? **** that
greens? erm, no i need my car for work

So... 'the banks' decide the government now do they? Which banks would that be - specifically?

You'd have been more convincing blaming the lizard-men controlling the media. Because they *do* decide ellections.

Well obviously the lizard men reptillians have the main say but the banks do influence politics also. I think I will keep my opinions on the matter to myself or I may be labelled a conspiracy nut etc. even although I am actually correct lol. (to clarify I do not believe in reptillians)

I currently have to teenagers in high-school. Thing is they have had a very strong ofsted rating ever since the place was re-built and the head is brilliant!

She has now decided to jump and run and then a few days later my two sprogs bring home leaflets about turning into an Academy... great!

Reading what the o/p has posted is leading me to wonder! is this what is happen here and that is why the head has decided to quit? the school has not got a bad rep and is not underperforming so why?

Again its Gove! he is a private school twit

George Monbiot makes a living out of writing inflamatory left-wing guff for people to get all het up about in CIF.

He's a bit like stockhausen: even when he's right, you still want to punch him. And when ever he makes an argument you used to agree with, you find your opinion changing just so that you aren't on his side.

Also, please note: just because someone's views are at odds with yours (or are annoying) doesn't make them wrong. The basic principle of what he is saying is true: the Tories are so determined to prove that academies "work" they are fixing the whole system, with bullying of governors, bribes, miss-used (and made-up) figures etc. All essentially to remove schools from Local Authority control - a major plank of Tory policy since Thatcher at least.

The teachers at my kids school are mostly terrible. They don't do anything when you raise an issue with them and the headmaster is an absolute wet fish. My kids are both bored there because they teach to the lowest common denominator yet the school gets excellent marks because most parents have given up and are employing private tutors. To cap it all off the catchment area of the high school that they need to go to shortly has shrunk. We are no longer in any catchment area so will probably end up with our kids in a sinking school. We can't have that so we have to move house at enormous cost.

Labour wrecked the education in this country.

Lol There never was an education in this country for the non-priviledged. The problem with Gove is he actually looks the xxxx he is. Mr Nice but dim.

The labour party just appease voters the whole time, that cause more problems that conservatives have to try and fix by making cuts at a later stage. Then the government employees always make out as if they are being targeted when any party try and fix structural problems and that it is malicious effort against the "weakest" "disabled" "old people" "kids" and so on. Government employees use this method of emotional blackmail to prevent changes or cuts. They are trying to change the spending structure of the government, this always happens in the private sector. When things are not working they change the structure.

I would like to know what Labour policies Hades feels wrecked the education (system?) specifically.

Off the top of my head...

The eroding of competition in schools so that no-one is a winner. I'm sorry but life isn't like that.

Massive immigration meaning that school classroom sizes are enlarged and school catchment areas are reduced. In my case I can't even get my kids into any local school.

Introduction of university fees while on the other hand devaluing the degrees themselves.

A general eroding of the quality of exams.

I think most people would agree that education standards in thus country have fallen in recent years and labour were presiding over most of that period.

Lack of accountability in schools resulting in weak teachers. When was the last time anyone was removed for incompetence?

Mind you the conservatives had a good go at ruining it too.

This deserves a longer reply than I'm able to give it at the moment so I will attempt to respond in more detail tomorrow.

This is true I don't see how anyone could disagree with this unless they are seriously out of touch with what is going on... I did a degree 2 years ago and frankly it was very poor, it has left very deeply unimpressed with the education system and feeling as if I almost may as well have not bothered... A degree nowadays is not even regarded as something impressive anymore because they have been devalued so much and so many people get pumped through the system each year it is a joke.... In the last 10 years this country really has turned into a bit of a joke. Especially the education and immigrants.
