UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 March *** Spoilers ***

do you go for a volley with your studs pointing in the direction of your travel i.e with studs pointing forwards

no didnt think so

RVP tried a couple of spectacular overheads. If someone puts their head in amongst it, is it a red card?

Bringing the ball down is now a red card. If you see an opposition player bringing the ball down simply run into him to claim your free free kick and one man advantage.

It doesn't matter whether he's going for the ball. If a challenge is deemed dangerous, it's a red no matter whether there's intent or not.

Shhh he'll report you too :p

Feel sorry ManU but I stick by what I said before that whilst I personally don't think it was a red Nani should never have gone in like that and gave the ref a decision to make, especially with the way the Spanish go on, it was silly.

Better team until the red and whilst I just missed the second goal the first was a perfect finish and very little you can do about it.

Exactly, this is what people are trying to argue. Madness.

No it's not. People going on about intent and going for the ball are mad. It makes no difference whether there was intent or not, the decision was whether the challenge was reckless (a yellow card) or dangerous (a red card). Studs into the ribs at pace can quite conceivably be considered dangerous. It was on the harsh side imo but it's one we've seen given a lot of times and it wasn't a huge surprise to me when he sent him off.

Need a rule that says no heading tbh, as the motion to head the ball could be classed as a headbutt and dangerous.

The flip side is, what if Mourinho is saying that because the ref was paid to give a red card decision against Utd and he knew about/was involved? I'd like to think that I am being paranoid but in football you never know...:p

I doubt mourinho would risk his reputation by being in and/or knowing the match was fixed.

Hilarious hearing that coming from Keane as well considering how much of a dirty ******* he was as a player. He would have been sent off in practically every champions league game he played in if the refereeing was as harsh as it was for that decision.

I can see why the ref has given it, but its a very harsh decision. Keane sounds like such an idiot arguing with Dixon.

"Do you think there's no other players on the pitch?"

****wit.

Better blow the whistle as soon as the ball leaves the floor in future, just in case.

Well played Roy Keane totally agree with him. Just watch all the united fans cry about poor decisions.

It's almost as funny as the bitter Liverpool fans popping up for a little dig. ;)

Roy Keane is an idiot.

As far as I understand from the itv pundits, if you raise your foot above waist height to control a ball you are playing dangerously? Lol what?

It's purely down to the interperation of the referee, European referees seem to have a tendency to come to the aid of Barca/Madrid when they're on the brink.

Everyone email Interpol. ;)

No, intent matters quite a lot.

Which is more dangerous: What Nani did, or a bicycle kick at head height where you get the ball and then go through somebody's face? Or, indeed, going in hard for a header and there being a clash of heads?

I'd argue that, if anything, Nani's is the least dangerous of all three, but nobody's suggesting that either of the others should be red cards.

If real win it will mou be embarrassed by the win?

He did look like he was consoling Ferguson at one point, Mourinhio will probably come out now and say it shouldn't have been a red etc etc and sound like a graceful winner and play the good guy (he can do that occassionaly) would have liked to have seen his reaction if they had lost and he hadn't been sent off :p
