SimCity V (2013) - screens/artwork and information

someone needs to leak the server code first and even then some are to complicated and resource intensive for a private server.

like the eve-online server source code that runs on a stupidly powerful server cluster

And then instead of being at the mercy of a big publishers servers, you're at the mercy of someone who has no obligations what so ever.

Just doesn't seem worthwhile if you ask me....

Is Cities XL a good alternative to this? Was considering buying this version of SimCity as I've never played any of these types of games, but after reading all this I don't really want to give EA any money for it!

I'd have prefered a sim city where you have your own private dedicated servers like we could have had an ocuk world...
but then EA wouldn't have full control over everything  people might have modded the game adding new "town sets" them selves so EA wouldn't be able to charge for them

They can also kill the servers at any time forcing you to buy a sequel

How many EA servers have lasted more than a year lol? even for regular multiplayer games like the shift series

Cities XL is good fun, i got it cheap from steam the platinum version, its very entertaining but there is a lot going off when you start to get a bigger city, fun though..

Also i just got my key from a certain site and they have sent a message with it, "origin has a problem and you can only install in polish or hungarian"

download these files blah blah to fix, anyone else heard of this so called problem?

cheers

The issue i have with the so called "Always Online" game, is that once the server goes down no-one can play. Take diablo 3 as experience "error 37" another is planetside2 "G ERROR". Pirates would less likely copy/ crack a game if it had less DRM/DLC's and more availability, of course you always get some however the impact it would have on gaming companies would be a lot less.

Companies Like EA are just a money making machine, to entice younger generation to buy these games, Sims is a prime example i wonder how many kids get their parents to use the credit card for a £9.99 table set??? parents have no idea and just buy it for them.

However pure gamer like us have more experience with them and know that we are being ripped off big style.

I myself have pre-ordered this game, however looking at the city grid size i know exactly where they are going with this ££££. you want a bigger grid size pay the price
for example.
4x4 £5.99
8x8 £9.99
10x10 £20.00

Which i think is a con.

Right so I missed out on the limited edition one it seems, is there anywhere I can still get hold of this without paying an arm and a leg.

LOL after bf3 I will never buy a language locked cdkey again even if there are language patchs

yeah funny thing is though, there saying its a problem with origin? only giving hungarian and polish version... and then some email telling you to download a zip file with a language pack in it... dodgy barstewards...

Cities XL is pretty good, however I always have cashflow issues and once it hits near 800k+ population it gets really laggy. I thought I'd give this a try but I'm not sure whether to or not. Plus all the DLC style is putting me off!

Yeh, and that CJS isn't even cheap! If it was half price you wouldn't mind but all that hassle for £3? No thanks

Game are still listing it also... as well as their "Exclusive Collectors Edition" which include not only a 'Unique Collectible Steelbook box, a 'European inspired neighbourhood!' 'Plus! Bonus Heroes and Villains set!'... all for £42.99

For anyone who might possibly be interested in this, then their website has all the details you need!

(Mine was apparently despatched yesterday, but hasn't arrived yet.)
