Does anyone know how i set an SSD up to in AHCI mode on windows 8 I've tried the regedit msahci attempt but i have no such folder any suggestions? :/

You should be able to set it in the bios unless win8 is even weirder than I thought

Tried that no option to, the bios hasnt changed from when i had win 7 though still same one awith my mobo

you only do this if you installed windows with the bios in IDE mode and you need to change it.

sounds like the bios was already in AHCI mode before you started this windows 8 install? it should already be AHCI. check in device manager here:

if it says something like "standard 1.0 ahci controller", you need the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.
