Lol these girls should spend a night in a club full if italians, i suspect they will feel better about the british blokes then
Nothing wrong whatsoever using the word rape.
"the wanton destruction or spoiling of a place:"
Too many people with hurt feelings if you ask me. If someone says something you dont like, ignore them, don't get all upset about it.

Even if the initial intentions behind using the word "rape" within the gaming community were terrible crimes against humanity (which I very much doubt they were), there is no real malice behind it anymore, so I don't see why that question is relevant in all honesty.
Again, I think this is half the problem, people being ignorant of the mavity of the word and what it actually means. I know that some words get additional means through use in different contexts, but is that really appropriate for this particular word?
I'd also like to make the point that it is a very limited culture that finds this acceptable. Like has been mentioned, you won't rape your granny at trivial pursuit or similar. If you use the word outside a very insular culture you'd get some very strong opposition and perhaps gaming subculture should be less ignorant to wider societal views?
I suppose people shouldn't get upset when they're subjected to a racist tirade either eh?
A word can only have mavity if people consider it to have mavity. If nobody considers it that way anymore then your point is totally moot.

Dont be silly now. No one really goes "mental" its the internet its all just one upmanship play the game nicely please.
Its not just a word if used with intent, whole 'nother argument/discussion.
I don't think the word gay has been used in the "happy" sense since the 1920's and rape, i pitty anyone that uses that freely in conversation cos it is soley used to cause maximum offence in a "polite" way so it seems?
The Lad culture as described still baffles me. I mean WHO are these so called "lads"?
It's amazing what people will try and justify saying that it was a "joke" or "banter". Neither of them are codewords for acceptable sexism.
Also, someone (I can't remember who) made the very valid point, that we should not be teaching girls not to dress like "*****" to avoid being raped, we should be teaching boys that rape is inherently abhorrent. I think cultures like this just perpetuate potentially quite dangerous stereotypes that do actually hurt people, regardless if they're justified as "jokes".
It is just the rape culture we live in, men need to check their privilege, until then, nothing will change, I believe I have mentioned this before?
Yes, you also said you didn't pay taxes, have you changed your status to a selfemployed escort yet and started self assessment?

Have we entirely lost our capability to not be completely stupid when it comes to this sort of thing. Words are re-appropriated all the time and unless you are intentionally making a fuss or you can't understand english, its pretty apparent.
Using the word rape out of the context of actual rape is not an issue in my view. Be careful but when you are with mates, I cannot fathom what the issue is.
