Lmao at Origin

Most people who responded are unfair to the OP.
He's not asking for compensation, just a refund. The CS representative should know how to manage such requests, which are entirely reasonable when goods are not of satisfactory quality. Simples!

Finally someone who doesn't think I'm being totally unreasonable..

i remember the good old days when if a game wasn't playable you just took it back to the shop for a refund with your receipt......ah memories.....

Yea great, Ea kept making millions and now we don't have any high street shops. That's worked out brilliantly.

Customers have every right to a straight up refund for a faulty game.

OP is making a fair enough point.

And theirs a reason we have statutory legal codes in place for this kind of thing, so turning round and saying "let us know how you legal challenge goes" is about the most idiotic thing I've read off here in a whole. Theirs a very good reasons these laws exist. Its completely right to quote them when treated unfairly.

I think the OP's request was reasonable, but I think that no matter how tedious it'd have been, he should've just given her the computer details again.

Pre-ordering or ordering before you checkout release reviews or other peoples opinions is stupid. EA/Origin should have your money, whether you can play it or not.

This is the problem with peoples mentality, buy first ask questions later. If everyone was more cautious with their money we'd have to deal with crappy releases less and developers and publishers would care more about a smooth release.

I played in both Betas and didn't suffer from the SLI of Xfire issues. There was also no connectivity issues.

With playing the Betas it was within my reasonable expectation that everything excluding connectivity issues would be of the same standard if not higher, is it not?

The fact I find it hilarious was because she just ended the chat rather than point me in the direction to go to take it further. The Second CS representative I spoke to ( bottom of 1st page in this thread) actually passed it over to Accounts and Billing and told me a Call Back had been arranged. Why couldn't CS number 1 do this?

Well she was a CS for The Sims/Maxis and most likely hasn't been briefed on what to do in those situations, it's EA's fault not the CS. CS is a horrible sector to work in due to the fact they are just middle-(wo)men and often get abused for things out of their control.

The Global Community Manager said go to the live Origin chat to get a refund which is what I did. I have had refunds from it before for several different products and for different reasons.

Fair enough pal.

Why should I disable my configuration because they can't QA properly. I played the Beta and Xfire and SLI worked fine in it.

They'll probably fix it sharpish then, usually when things are broken due to patching they get fixed quickly enough.

Not really, plenty of beta review sites did state that connectivity issues could arise on release. Anyone could figure this out themselves, not to mention betas are not fully representative of the final product.

On the other hand it's not acceptable to have a broken product, but to me it's what I've come to expect from new releases. Tons of bugs, connection issues etc are all just part of the industry we sink our money into.

The only game I've ever pre-ordered was Skyrim and I was stung then and never again. I just wish more people would stop putting money into games before they are worthy.

You didn't have to buy it in the first place there was enough people who did to say about connection problems and im sure there would be people who have sli/crossfire who could have helped you before you bought it.

Connectivity issues might occur, that is ok you can't predict user numbers etc.

There was no information about the Xfire/SLI issue before I bought it. Even if there was, should I expect a game I have paid for to be unplayable?

Dude just chill and wait for it to be fixed, why get a refund when you'll just buy it again when the issues are gone a month or so in the future?

Skyrim on PS3, took over a year to fix. Not going to wait for a game to be fixed that shouldn't of been released in the state it was.

Stung with Skyrim how exactly?

This is part of the problem, people are too accepting when it comes to games and game developers. If you purchased a physical product that was broken or not fit for purpose etc you'd be up in arms about it but a digital release that should never ever have seen the light of day in its current state, that is some how fine? You should just chill and wait it out?

Sorry but no, game developers get away with far too much as it is, this shouldn't be added to the list.

As for digital products not being eligible for refunds, utter rubbish, there have been recent court cases where this has been deemed unfounded. Companies shouldn't allowed to fall back on T&Cs to get out of refunding customers for genuine problems. If EA actually cared about gamers, they wouldn't be named the worst company in America. Profit before people, plain and simple.
