Chris Huhne to be charged for perverting the course of justice

I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't take legal advice before doing this but rather just listened to the journalist bint at the times who persuaded her to go with it and how to spin it etc.. for maximum effect.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pryce was so blind with the thought of revenge that, as you say, the journalist bint spun the whole idea so well that Pryce thought she was untouchable. How the journalist must be laughing. She gets an exclusive on an illegal act committed by a member of the Cabinet and his wife and the journalist does nothing illegal herself! :D

Maybe if the speed scamera joke wasn't so easy to pervert the country could have saved itself an utter fortune in legal bills.

The mother in law works for a company that sells various specialized commercial vehicles. She has let on once or twice the boss pays some drivers to to claim they were driving in certain places and times.

I have no sympathy for them but Huhne and Pryce were just some of the ones who get caught.

Bring back proper traffic cops I say, then lets see if a male can pass his points to a female.

ha - serves them right.
the real sentence is the destruction of their careers.

Hardly. He'll write his book, next year he'll be in the jungle, then 'celeb' big brother or a few dance moves on the ice. His next wedding will be covered by 'Hello' and whatever else the idiotic media can dream up for the salivating masses.

He won't be short of a few bob, that's for sure.

Looks like another case of Lib Dem behaviour from when no-one cared coming back to bite them in the backside.

Can't see him remaining in government.

no idea why britian gives this so much credence - I mean like wtf? - people losing thier jobs left and right; the price for goods and services is going up and there is still wars going on overseas
and we should care about one dudes speeding ticket???

reminds me of the clinton thing; <<< that was just the opposing party looking to make the democrates look bad and perhaps oust him - but seriously I could care less what he did with his free time and about what he did with the country as a whole.

I still don't get how how 'perverting the course of justice' works in principle, it seems to apply to only certain types of lies. Plead not guilty when you know you are for example and that's not considered a perversion of the course of justice (even though it is), if someone murders someone than buries the body then they just get done for murder and not trying to conceal the crime.

If perverting the course of justice is trying to hide the fact you committed a crime (what Huhne did) then surely it should be added to 90% of convictions.

IMO it should be scrapped and the police/courts should just accept that people will try to cover their tracks and avoid conviction.

But then you have literally thousands of people wrongly accused for crimes they never committed - which is why the CPS exist. Cases don't go to court unless the CPS are confident of a conviction and that normally means some serious evidence.
He said, she said - is not serious evidence and generally not enough to go to court. (which is why you have these celebs getting thrown NFA's at them over historical accusastions with little to no evidence) from what I gather the CPS proceeded bc of the CCTV found at the airport.

its a game of priorities for the police and CPS they cant simply go into a case thinking the accused is guilty , that wouldnt exactly be a great justice system.

Made me laugh when watching an interview with Huhne on the BBC this morning, he was just saying how he thinks its ridiculous this minor crime has be blown our of proportion ... he seems to think that passing off Points and then lying about it is acceptable and he should have just got a slap on the wrist.

the interview showed me that he has this idea he is above the law, and that because he deems it a silly little offence so should the courts. I'm glad he is serving a prison sentence may scare some of the other MP's into line.

kevin maguire was on sky last night saying the same thing, that its a waste of public money sending them to prison. you break the law you go down, i bet if it wasnt a mp but someone from a council estate they would be ranting that they need longer in prison.

an example of poor judgement from a person in power..if he had taken the ban there and then it would have been over in a year and nobody would have cared..instead he lied about it and ruined his career

Looks like Huhne has received the Lindsay Lohan treatment ;) - seemed to slip by unnoticed.

Chris Huhne has reportedly been moved to an open jail after spending just a week in Wandsworth prison.

The former Cabinet minister will serve the rest of his term at HMP Leyhill in Gloucestershire, where cell doors are not locked and prisoners do work placements in the community.

Whilst I am not shocked this happened, why even bother sending him to a normal prison for one week? Is this normal in a case/prison sentence like this with 'normal' people?

It's normal to be sent to temporary prison until you get categorised and assigned your home.

He was always going to be cat d, he's not exactly a murderous flight risk is he?

I wish you were joking, but I can actually see all of the above happening...
