***ArmA 3 Thread***

Genuine question but ok, no more information about Neil79 being a hacker, my apologies.

Arma 3 is buggy as hell as expected, can't wait for a decent map!
 
I use the following in the game launch options through steam for an i7. For the Q6600 I'd change the cpucount to 4 and remove the memory setting as by default arma 3 uses 4GB anyway I think.

-cpucount=8 -nosplash -high -maxMem=8192 -exThreads=7

Also I've manually set PhysX to my GPU rather than auto select. Running the above settings at 4.8GHz I average 50 fps on most servers with CPU usage between 80-100 and GPU clocks at full speed rather than idling speed.

Setting PhysX to your GPU will do nothing.
 
That was fun! Cheeky Independent planted an explosive on the jeep and blew us both up :D. Must admit I love the feeling of speed in this game driving buggies
 
Great fun on MGT wasteland server just now :) with two guys keefo and andy.
I'll defo be playing that again tomorrow!

I played 45 mins around 8:30pm (Chris was my name) My first proper try of Wasteland. Spent 20 mins running round not knowing what to do, drove to the airfield ran somebody over with my truck near a crashed heli, looted an RPG from the dead guy then was promptly shot when I equipped it accidentally instead of my assault rifle :-(

Best fun I've had online in a long time. It's my first multiplayer experience of any ARMA title and can safely say I'm hooked.
 
Just had a fun hour in a coop dev game, but really struggling with all the different buttons. Worked out I was no 7 and tried to do as I was told.

We were getting shot at by a chopper doing flybys over an airfield so I jumped into a beat up van with a roof gun and there was only a black thermal screen to look at. Managed to get into 3rd person view as it was passing and brought it down with a long burst from about 50m away, which was nice :)

Also managed to kill 3 enemy infantry, but this was only by moving out of formation and flanking.

Worked out how to change weapons too so all in all a good game :D

with the current Map not fitting in with the wasteland theme have you thought about changing the time and weather settings to give the map more of the look below? gives it a bit more of a wasteland feel.

doubt it will happen from Bohemia but would really like snow environment where the depth of snow and type of snow/ice affect your movement and speed
 
Snow is already in the game mate...

Set it to winter time, and rain.. Instead of raining it snows! Although the snow doesn't lie on the ground!

Anyway, I think my tasks are becoming mighty complicated :)

I have cancelled missions, if the task isn't complete. I have a separate mission for divers that need to be done before the land troops move in! Back up exfil points etc!

Implemented Tonics VAS script, saved loadouts etc!

Got supply helis flying in and choice of landing zones for initial infil..

Got to make up my mind what patrol script to use, either UPS or VSPS. Either or will do, but trying to make it as light as possible on fps.

Speaking of that. I am making a terrain and distance dialog, that will allow you to obviously change view distance on the fly, and also the amount of grass that is there..


Will update as soon as I am closer to release!

ok not really looked at the editor but yeah I meant similar to how assasins creed 3 had snow affect your speed and maneuverability

 
IF server signing is on , if you have the wrong build you cannot connect to that server (as ours is configured)

Even with signing on you can still connect and mess it up, as until the latest dev update(cross fingers) it would just push you right into the game.
Last I saw, it would only stop extra mods being loaded that have no sigs for, like CBA etc.

I would recommend people stay on the alpha unless your specific server you play on allows dev builds, though the newest one should stop you going on older versions.

Im finding that that if I join a server that is quite full I often get "connection failed" or if I do manage to get in then I cant join a player slot
If I join a server that is fairly empty then it seems ok, I dont think its my connection as I get good pings (12-18ms) and bandwith

Is this common to all as its in alpha or should I be looking for solutions?
