Been hit at a junction from behind?

Just found by the police the cars insured but she's not insured for that car?

What happens now?

She's even more Fully star it out as the police are involved now :) Certainly explains why she was trying to con you into not going via insurance. I'd hope she's prosecuted.

If I remember correctly your insurer will go via the MIB instead. Its all paperwork for them, but you shouldn't lose out.

No he will get his car fixed, and wont lose his no claims, she will be prosecuted for driving without insurance and end up with £200 and 6 points, if she goes to court that could turn into £5k and a ban.

Good news then.

Ah, good news indeed then. Who pays for the repair in this scenario?

I never knew about the first bit, does the same apply if you are hit and run where the driver was never traced and the car was registered to a wrong address?

I know it seems overkill and it will probably never come into use but this is why I love having an in car camera. "I'll contest it, there were no witnesses" "Oh really.... smile of the camera ;) "

That said I'm pretty sure you'll have no worries at all in this case.

You will on occasion have to push your insurer to use the MIB - DirectLine advertise it as an extra reason to sign up with them, but most insurers have access to it - it just depends how much you push whether they will use it...

The MIB is only involved where there is no insurance policy in place for the car. Since there is, the insurance company will have to pay out for third party damages, even though the driver at the time of the accident was not covered by the policy.
