Been hit at a junction from behind?

Hi

great start to the day today i was sat at a junction waiting to pull out and the car behind me hit me from behind.(she was driving to fast) There was no witness's to the cash. car needs new bumper, rear glass

I've since reported it to my insurance company and gave her reg details ect
(she did say if i went through my insurance company she would contest it?)

I've got a rental car provided by my insurance company ect

what happens now??

ive got no claims protected, legal aid, free car hire

Well frankly I don't believe you as women are by far the safest drivers.

Oh no, wait, I'm sure one ploughed into the back of me at about 40mph over Christmas too.

Judging entire sex by two incidents, oh you.

Guys crash more, statistical figures prove it.

I know it seems overkill and it will probably never come into use but this is why I love having an in car camera. "I'll contest it, there were no witnesses" "Oh really.... smile of the camera ;) "

That said I'm pretty sure you'll have no worries at all in this case.

Been thinking about getting one of these for the same reason even though I doubt it will ever be used or catch a asteroid heading to earth :p

Question is your camera one of those cheap jobs from ebay front facing only or something else that does back front and driver? i just wonder how a front facing camera could be used if you were hit in the back other then showing you were at a stand still? (apologies to highjack this thread)

I was under the impression that women actually crash more, but guys tend to crash more... um... spectacularly, resulting in the overall amount being claimed higher?

I've certainly witnessed far more little scrapes and dings etc. caused by women than men! :p

From years ago when I worked at Ins co this was what the claims managers said.

Women far more accidents but mainly parking and low speed colisions etc, but men tend to do a better job of it when they do have one, such as rolling into a field upside down ;)

One of the advantages with sitting at a junction with the brakes on is that should you be rear ended you can actually tell that the brakes were engaged. (its the reason that can get "brake testers" caught when the claim someone just drove into the back of them). Problem is with LEDs I am not sure they will be able to prove anymore.
(Its basically that the traditional bulbs would give a telltale pattern if broken when they were heated in use)

Although technically if you're sat at a junction for an extended period you should really have your handbrake on :p

Guessing it would show you stationary then suddenly shunted forward (possibly including a few choice words if it records from a microphone too lol) and that you didn't reverse into the car behind as the woman in this case was possibly hinting at.
